About us
PHARMECO is agroundbreaking initiative aiming at helping pharmaceutical industry transition to more sustainable pharmaceutical manufacturing practices by integrating environmentally-friendlier technologies, processes and standardized sustainability assessment methods. PHARMECO will address the production of small molecules, tides, and biologics, medical devices & technologies, with a key focus on: • Sustainable-by-Design (SSbD) platforms for early-stage pharmaceutical development • Green processes for industrial-scale manufacturing and decontamination • Advanced digital tools for sustainability assessment and decision-making

Yesterday, 3 PHARMECO members (Sándor Balázs Ötvös; William Mackintosh; Sarah Costers) attended the 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 organized by TransPharm Horizon EU project and ITN GREEN-CHEM Chem. It was a great experience in an incredible setting! https://lnkd.in/dgAYAV8F 🌿 The event brought together passionate professionals from academia and industry to explore and discuss cutting-edge green chemistry solutions, including: 🔬 Innovative methods like electrochemical flow synthesis, mechanochemistry, and hydrothermal approaches. 💡 Redesigning APIs with sustainability in mind. 🤖 The transformative potential of AI in greener organic synthesis. 🌍 Practical strategies for reducing carbon footprints in pharmaceutical production. The workshop fostered insightful discussions and highlighted the importance of collaboration in driving sustainable innovations forward. PHARMECO Project officially launched! 🌿💊 🤩 We’re thrilled to announce the launch of the groundbreaking @PHARMECO project, supported by the Innovative Health Initiative Joint Undertaking, and coordinated by Ghent University (CESPE) and the industry project lead, Sanofi! 🔛 This ambitious initiative will trigger a green revolution in the manufacture of medicines by implementing greener technologies and processes, adopting sustainability steering at each stage of production, and standardizing sustainability assessment approaches across the sector.
