Do you need product placement to reap the benefits of partnering with a movie? Brand/movie partnerships bring to mind shots of logos and products alongside celebrities and are viewed by a captive audience of theatergoers. But what if your product isn’t in the actual movie? Movies have much more to offer than just an in-theater presence. The months-long promotion and PR cycle leading up to a film’s theatrical release offers brands plenty of opportunities to benefit from the movie’s marketing wake. Team One worked with Lexus to promote its partnership with Universal’s #WickedMovie ahead of this Friday’s theater release. Also, what an honor and inspiration it was to get do a piece about the director Jon Chu. “I have this quote—it’s from the L. Frank Baum original Wizard of Oz—and it says, ‘At some point, if you keep walking, you end up at some place.’ I hope this movie pushes other people to go pursue those things as well. The 2024 Lexus December Sales Event brings a stocking full of new memories. Running now through January 2nd, this year we brought back a hit from last year, “Stranded”, and created two new spots, “Letter” and “Forecast”. In “Letter”, a family understands how important a certain letter delivery is to a young girl and goes to great lengths to make sure her holiday wish comes true. In “Forecast”, a meteorologist, thinking he has to spend a lonely Christmas alone, is surprised when his extended family braves a severe snowstorm to bring the festivities to him. The takeover continues with audio, print, OOH, and some unforgettable collaborations (one’s so good you’ll want to take a bite, literally 😋). The top five reasons we go live on social. We’ve tested a variety of live broadcasts for clients over the years, from massive multi-camera setups and broadcasts that ran over 10 hours, to streams shot on a phone that stopped after 30 seconds. Going live is a bit of a highwire act, but it gives you some advantages over a regular video or image post. These are the five we like best: ✅ Live gets preferred placement (more visibility for the brand) in the Stories queue at the top of the Instagram app. ✅ An instant authentic connection with the brand’s audience (i.e. increased engagement) ✅ It lets the brand respond to questions in real-time. ✅ It lets the brand gather immediate feedback on content and adjust that content on the fly. ✅ No editing time. Even though it requires more planning up front, going live becomes more efficient for clients on the backend since it eliminates hours of post-production time and rounds of review. A few weeks ago we went live with our Lexus clients as part of the ongoing introduction of the new LX 700h... Originally we planned to go live for 3 minutes while the Overtrail grade of this flagship SUV was being dropped off for a video shoot, but then we decided to test out a longer 30-minute broadcast on Instagram. During the broadcast, questions kept coming in and we decided to keep going–one more advantage of going live on social, you don’t have to stop if the audience is engaged.
