Wind Turbine Blades Arrive at Geraldton Port for the Bellevue Gold Project The wind turbine blades—four GW165/6.0MW Goldwind turbines—have arrived at Geraldton Port, marking a key milestone in the development of an 88MW hybrid power station for the Bellevue Gold Project. Under a 15-year power purchase agreement, Zenith Energy will finance, build, own, and operate this hybrid solution, which integrates wind, solar, thermal, and battery storage to supply up to 80% of the project’s energy needs from renewable sources. How does a high fraction renewable energy hybrid power solution work? This animation explains the hybrid power system operating at Liontown Resources Limited Kathleen Valley Operation. Our goal for this operation is to continue to deliver approximately 80% of the Kathleen Valley energy needs from renewables in the near future. Significant progress toward this goal has been achieved in the first months of operation, where the hybrid power system has powered the entire site continuously with 100% renewable energy for periods of up to five days. Wind and solar energy companies that signed the IRBC Agreement for the Renewable Energy Sector have committed to to carry out risk-based due diligence 👉https://lnkd.in/ecuUwZk5 Together the different parties developed a Renewable Energy Sector Due Diligence Assessment Framework. Based on this framework, the independent secretariat of the Agreement conducted a baseline assessment. The considerable differences make it difficult to compare the two sectors, and parties need to have a different approach towards wind and solar sector companies when providing due diligence support. The projects span a variety of technologies, including offshore and onshore wind, solar, tidal, and floating offshore wind, with offshore wind accounting for approximately 5.3 GW of the awarded capacity. Notable achievements include nine fixed-bottom offshore wind contracts totaling 4.9 GW and a single floating wind project, the Green Volt Offshore Windfarm, led by Flotation Energy and Vårgrønn. Once operational, the projects will bring the UK’s total CfD-backed renewable energy capacity to 34.74 GW. Among the significant projects is ScottishPower’s East Anglia Two Wind Farm, which will deliver 963 MW of clean energy by 2028/2029 and power nearly one million homes. Highview Power’s 10 GWh liquid air energy storage (LAES) The UK has long been a leading market for battery energy storage adoption, in turn because of its early and strong adoption of offshore wind power. A few months ago we covered the revival of the pumped hydro industry there after a four-decade hiatus, with a single 1.8 GW / 32 GWh SSE Renewables project set to almost double national capacity, while the total pipeline of projects is to quadruple pumped hydro storage capacity. Now the UK is to host another full-size storage fleet – this time liquid air energy storage (LAES) projects, with London-headquartered Highview Power taking advantage of a long-duration energy storage (LDES) investment support scheme to propose 10 GWh across four projects – with stated goals of supporting North Sea wind integration and supporting grid stability.
