And we're off to Vegas baby 🛫🕺🏽 A huge win for Reggie Health to be accepted into Investment NSW's Going Global Export Program for Digital Health to the US and ANDHealth's HLTH US Delegation for 2024! This support will provide us with a unique opportunity to connect with healthcare providers, industry leaders and investors in the US market. We’ll be starting in San Francisco on October 16–18 with a kick-off events consisting of intros, talks and networking with University of California, San Francisco, Google Health, AMAZON Health, and partners from Rock Health, American Heart Association Ventures, Health Velocity Capital, HealthX Ventures, AHA Ventures, Pegasus Tech Ventures and tours through JLABS, Googleplex and Fogarty Innovation. Then to the main event on October 19-23 with HLTH USA 2024 in Las Vegas. You could say HLTH is like the Olympics of health innovation. Instead of breakdancing, we will be repping at the Australian pavilion alongside a number of epic Aussies - Australis Scientific Pty Ltd. , Baymatob, CHICC Victorian Government, Gheorg, Invest and Trade Western Australia, Perx Health, Stratos MedTech Pty Ltd, Vantari VR and VueMotion. Also have to add that Lenny Kravitz, Halle Berry will be speakers (wild!). And Busta Rhymes will be performing, so I'm accordingly packing protective neck gear. I just want to say a MASSIVE thank you to Investment NSW + ANDHealth and supporting partners MTPConnect, Global Victoria, NSW Government and Investment NSW. The pre-departure webinars have been really helpful and I have no doubts about the value of the connections that will be made with the delegation, its partners and US customers and investors. A new Scottish Cross-Sector Networking Hub, hosted by NHS Research Scotland with the aim of addressing healthcare challenges, will hold its first gathering this month. Supported by the Cross-Sector Programme of The Academy of Medical Sciences, the launch event on Friday 24 January will take place at the NHS Golden Jubilee. Under the theme of 'Engaging with Life Sciences Industry and Entrepreneurship in Scotland' it will offer delegates strategic networking opportunities, and in-depth insights into the life sciences industry and entrepreneurship in Scotland. With attendance encouraged across different sectors and disciplines it will also provide scope to identify and engage with potential collaborators from diverse professional backgrounds. Speakers include Professor Dame Anna Dominiczak, Chief Scientist (Health) at The Scottish Government, and lead for the Hub in Scotland alongside Professor Andrew Morris CBE FRSE PMedSci, President of the Academy of Medical Sciences, and former Chief Scientist for Scotland. What an incredible resource - the team at CHICC and ANDHealth workshops are so valuable for health startups, and today's workshop was so inspiring. It was great listening to the international entrepreneur Liz Ashall-Payne talk about her journey with ORCHA. It was wonderful getting some guidance on some possible options for ANTSA and how to make the biggest impact in the mental health field. Great days in Amsterdam at HLTH! 🌟 Here are our three key take-home messages: 1. Tech and AI are Crucial for Hospitals 🤖 With an aging population, there are more people in need of healthcare and fewer people to provide it. Tech and AI are essential to bridge this gap and improve efficiency. 2. Implementing New Solutions ⚙️ Hospitals have limited capacity to test and implement all the new solutions available. The best approach is to start with simple technologies that reduce administrative tasks for front-line staff, build trust with hospital staff, and then expand from there. 3. Investment in Surgery Healthtech 💰 Surgery accounts for over 30% of healthcare spending, but less than 10% of investment goes into surgical healthtech solutions. VCs are starting to understand this discrepancy, and we saw a strong interest in our solutions that support the quality and efficacy of surgery. We come home reassured that we are on the right track to make a significant contribution to the future healthcare system! These were some of the questions that brought together dozens of mutual entities on October 25th at the Montepio Geral Associação Mutualista Auditorium in Lisbon, during the International Conference "Mutualism: New Responses to Social Challenges." At this event, organized for the APM - Associação Portuguesa de Mutualidades to mark National Mutualism Day, experts in digital transformation and health innovation shared their visions for the future of healthcare. From pioneering companies to social innovation organizations, participants reflected on the potential to innovate within the mutualist model and strengthen social protection. Reflections on Day 2 of the ABHI UK HealthTech Conference Today at the ABHI UK HealthTech Conference, the focus is on market access through collaboration, cooperation, coordination, and partnership—core principles that resonate deeply with my role as Head of Corporate Partnerships at IEMA. It's clear from todays discussions and my general observations in my role that no single individual or organization holds all the answers to many of societies problems whether it be in healthcare, sustainability or anywhere else; true innovation and effective solutions emerge when we come together. However, the challenge remains: while collaboration is often emphasized, it frequently falls short in execution. So, how do we overcome this gap? First, we must cultivate an environment where diverse voices are genuinely heard nd alued. Second, we need to establish clear, shared goals from the outset. Lastly, we must prioritize accountability and have regular check-ins and updates to continue the dialogue, move forward, and evaluate progress.
