As part of ADRA India's PRECISE project, we regularly hold community awareness programs in Assam. The goal is to teach local farmers about improved livestock breeds and their benefits. During the recent session in Rajabill, farmers learned about advanced breeding practices to boost productivity and improve their livelihoods. They actively participated in discussions about the benefits of better breeds, such as higher milk yields, greater resistance to diseases, and increased profits. By raising awareness, ADRA India aims to help farmers sustainably improve their livelihoods. . . . #EmpoweringCommunities #SustainableLivelihoods #LivestockAwareness #FarmingForFuture

I'm so excited to share that our team at IDA has co-authored a report titled "Designing and Evaluating Innovations for Development of Smallholder Female Livestock Cooperatives in Nepal." This project has been close to my heart, as it showcases the story of rural women and how these incredible women are transforming their lives and the lives of the next generation through collective efforts in agriculture, dairy, and small livestock farming, especially with goats. The report draws insights from the semi-structured interviews that were conducted with 83 women's farming cooperatives across 26 districts and discovered some truly inspiring stories and insights: How small livestock production is empowering women and changing communities. The amazing collective marketing efforts these cooperatives are making. The challenges they face, like side selling and transportation. How community animal health services are making a difference. The importance of educational materials to boost knowledge and skills for better livestock production. With a majority of male members from rural parts of Nepal working abroad, this study sheds light on the resilience and determination of women in agriculture. It's a reminder of the importance of providing support and resources to help them succeed. #Agriculture #Livestock #WomenEmpowerment #Nepal #Farming #Research #Sustainability #CommunityDevelopment #IDA

#Transforming Dairy Farming Through #Knowledge: The Impact of #Shwetdhara Shwetdhara, supported by IDFC FIRST Bank 's CSR, is revolutionizing dairy farming in rural India—not just by #enhancing #productivity but by #fundamentally changing how farmers #approach their work. Key #Impacts: 1. #Training programs are changing behaviour among farmers. Many now proactively seek #veterinary care and adhere to hygiene standards, resulting in healthier #livestock. 2. Through our #ArtificialInsemination programs, farmers access superior #genetics, leading to a 25-30% increase in milk production per animal. 3. Tailored training on #BalancedNutrition has improved animal #health. Farmers are implementing ration balancing techniques, enhancing cattle #vitality and #milk output. 4. Local women trained as #GramSakhis are becoming vital #CommunityResourcePersons. Over 43,000 farmers across 880 villages have been directly impacted, ensuring knowledge dissemination within communities. Real-World Results: - Reduced #Intercalving Periods from 5-6 months to just 2-3 months, improving breeding efficiency - Farmers are experiencing #calving increases from 6-7 to 8-9 times over an animal's lifespan - Maintaining a 20%-25% #immunity rate during disease outbreaks ensures livestock survival and stability for families. #Conclusion: Shwetdhara exemplifies how #investing in training can lead to profound changes in behavior and practices among dairy farmers. By focusing on #education, we empower communities to thrive #sustainably. Let’s continue supporting initiatives that uplift our farmers and drive meaningful change in rural India! #DairyDevelopment #RuralEmpowerment #Training #SustainableAgriculture

As the founder of Abuti Spinach, I am thrilled to see India's Odisha state taking a lead in pioneering sustainable agriculture farm reforms. The pioneering efforts of KV Singh Deo in promoting schemes that encourage Acquaculture, Animal Husbandry, Dairy farming, and Horticulture are truly commendable and something we can draw inspiration from in Africa. But what does this mean for Africa's agricultural sector and how can we replicate such successes on our continent, can we adopt similar approaches to boost our agricultural production and make farming more attractive to the youth #abutispinach #Agvocate #AgroDiplomacy 🌾👨🌾💚

The quicker a cow returns to fertility after calving, the more efficiently a farm can manage its resources, ensuring consistent milk production and herd replacement. However, achieving successful pregnancies in cows post-calving involves understanding the cow’s reproductive cycle, managing nutrition, and addressing health issues. #Agriculture #livestockfarming #News #Africa #Cattle #Milkproduction #Trending

Maasai women diversify from livestock dependency, to chicken rearing and vegetable gardens in Kajiado. This comes with it's own challenges but it helps in spreading the risks associated with loss. The chicken manure improves soil fertility on farms. Proud ToT. #climatechange #climateaction 👌👌👌
