Australian studies reveal that mindfulness practice reduces stress by 25%. The most mindful moment is actually becoming aware of when you are overwhelmed and stressed at work. How? By checking in with the present moment, your body sensations, feelings, and exploring your needs. Learning how to take mindful actions to intentionally change your state addresses overwhelm and rising stress directly. Being cognisant of yourself as opposed to caught up in the ‘overwhelm and busy’ is a game changer. Let Equanimity Matters bring the 'know how' so you can become the change! Feeling all the feels from a recent workshop review 👇

This Mindfulness Monday, let’s focus on the simple yet powerful practice of being fully present. In our busy lives, it’s easy to get caught up in thoughts about the past or worries about the future. But true mindfulness lies in anchoring ourselves to the present moment. ✨ Why is this important? When you become more aware of your surroundings and engage fully in the present moment, you’re not just slowing down—you’re allowing your mind to reset. This simple practice helps reduce stress, improve focus, and increase overall mental clarity. It’s about giving yourself the space to breathe and appreciate the little things in life that often go unnoticed. Start small. Whether it’s during a walk, while eating, or simply sitting quietly, take a moment to tune into the present. Let’s start this week with intention and presence. 🌱 #MindfulnessMonday #BePresent #MindfulLiving #ResetCamp #WellnessJourney #MentalClarity #StressRelief

The images you saw at Buangkok MRT station are part of a public awareness campaign. It is a reminder to pause, reflect on our emotions, and act in a way that supports rather than harms others. Reflecting on this image reminds me how stress can sometimes push us to the edge, making us act in ways we normally wouldn’t. In these moments of frustration or illness, our reactions can feel overwhelming. But here’s the thing: we always have a choice in how we respond. This is where mindfulness plays a crucial role. Practicing mindfulness gives us the space to pause and notice our emotions without letting them control us. It’s not about suppressing how we feel, but rather about becoming aware of our inner state so that we can choose a more measured response — one rooted in awareness and compassion. When we let stress, frustration, or physical discomfort take over, the people around us, including those trying to help, may bear the brunt of our reactions. But through mindfulness, we can maintain clarity and kindness even in challenging situations, which ultimately supports our well-being and those around us. Take a deep breath today. Pause. Notice what’s happening within you before reacting to what’s happening around you. Let's make mindfulness a daily practice—not just for ourselves, but for the betterment of the world around us. #knowthyself

Day 233 of 366 Days to Build Confidence Practicing these three mindfulness skills will build your confidence. 💫 Defusion 💫 Noticing thoughts Stepping back from a thought, image or memory and not attaching to it. By detaching ourselves from our thoughts, we can let them move on. We don’t have to let thoughts control our lives. 💫 Expansion 💫 Opening up. Letting difficult emotions and feelings come, acknowledging they are there and letting them move through us. This allows fear, anxiety and anger the space to alert us there is a problem, but we do not have to get held back by them. 💫 Engagement 💫 Being present Getting actively involved in what is going on around you. Being aware and being curious. Asking, ‘What does this mean?’ Notice your thoughts Notice your emotions Acknowledge and allow Be curious about what they mean Take the message and let them move on. In the face of uncertainty with the full spectrum of human emotions, it's impossible to know what comes next. The reason we practice mindfulness is to find a way to be aware of what's happening in the moment - both inside and outside of ourselves - so that we can respond intelligently to life as it unfolds in front of us. Our craving for knowing knows no bounds - we explore oceans and space, the psyche, team dynamics, protein synthesis, physics, and more. We are innately curious, and this is what makes us wonderfully innovative. Mindfulness supports this innovation because it allows us to be in the attitude that "anything is possible." (I'm not talking about the woo woo "anything possible" idea that humans could fly if we just thought about it hard enough. That's not true, and do not try it. I'm talking about a new idea, action, or meaning emerging from an old pattern.) In the future, we'll need to be able to respond intelligently to life as it unfolds, be innovative in our approaches, and believe that anything is possible. The key to supporting these states of being is mindfulness. It's not just good for the individual. It's also good for the team, the organization, and our communities. If there's one action to double down on right now, it's the intentional practice of mindfulness. You don't need a cushion. Just observe what happens in your mind and body. Don't judge what shows up. Don't work to change it. Just notice. As you practice this non-judgmental awareness, more will be revealed. If you want to talk about mindfulness and how it applies to the contexts you're in, please think of me as one of the helpers. Reach out any time. #leadershipdevelopment #emotionalintelligence #mindfulness #criticalthinking
