PUTTING SKÅNE ON THE LIFE SCIENCE INNOVATION MAP If anyone were in doubt about the impact and impressive innovation and footprint, region Skåne has in Sweden and in the Nordics on life science innovation – no one were after the packed program of was displayed at MedInnovation conference today in Lund. With 21% of all life science companies in Sweden and 36% of all patents coming out of Sweden – Skåne stands out as a very strong life science region. Together with their collaboration partners in the Danish side of Medicon Valley, Skåne is contributing significantly to making Medicon Valley the largest and one of the leading life science region in European Union. Also Kara Brotemarkle from Roche “Collaboration cross-border market is key” and here Skåne are excelling both with Denmark and Germany. Great cases underlining the strong lead, Region Skåne takes in Sweden in Life Science Innovation were presented: ✳ AbbVie’s ambition of increasing their R&D activity in Scandinavia, displayed by their “Golden Ticket” awarded to SmiLe Incubator due to their impressive incubator impact situated in the strong eco-system in Medicon Village ✳ Neola Medical – presentation of their ground-breaking product – a medtech product non-invasive continuous lung monitor which will be able to save prematurely babies, already on First North and engaged on the US market. Rounding up Anna Mannfalk applauded all the initiatives in region Skåne – both on being in the forefront of innovation and leading in Sweden with ATMP and the strong cross-border collaboration within Medicon Valley ReproUnion and HALRIC Hanseatic Life Science Research Infrastructure Consortium – but also with the opportunity for more both within Medicon Valley but also increasingly with Germany with Femern connection in the near future.
