Humanitarian organizations who work in crises around the world have, for more than a year, tried to call attention to the enormity of the suffering in #Gaza and the singularity of the conditions hindering an effective and urgent humanitarian response. These calls have been unheeded for too long. Now, the U.S. government has created a critical opportunity to respond to the facts on the ground, and to insist upon accountability to our own laws. It is imperative to act now to prevent further loss of innocent life, the deepening of an extraordinary humanitarian crisis, and the continued erosion of U.S. credibility as an upholder of International Humanitarian Law.

Partnerships are an imperative if we are to achieve impact at scale.

🚀 Great news! The YMCA Europe Refugee Skilling and Support Project has been extended for Phase III through the end of the year. Since October 2022, through this project, YMCAs in Europe have been actively working to serve the Ukrainian refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) with the support of the Accenture Foundation. ➡️ The first phase was the emergency response, implemented until March 2023 ➡️ The second phase began in June 2023, ran through the end of May, and transitioned from an emergency response to integration-focused 👉 Read more about the impact of the first two phases and what happens in the next phase here: https://bit.ly/3VuXbss

As conflicts and humanitarian crises continue to affect children, families and communities around the world - millions of people are being forced to make the hardest decision of their lives – to flee their homes and leave behind everything they've built in the hope of finding a safer, better future. ChildFund partners with aid organisations, such as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and dedicated local partners, to respond to humanitarian crises, address refugees' vulnerabilities, and advocate for children's rights worldwide. *Imagine not knowing when or if you will ever see your family again.* This is the sad reality for many refugees who may spend years apart or even stay separated forever. *On the International Day of Families*, here are 3 things you should know: 1️⃣ Is being together with family a human right? *Yes,* as recognized by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, family unity is entitled to protection by society and the State. 2️⃣ How does conflict affect families? In the chaos of fleeing for their lives, refugee *families can be torn apart or may be separated* as they try to reach safety. 3️⃣ How does UNHCR support refugee families to reunite? I'm thrilled to celebrate five years at HIAS! It's been an incredible journey working alongside dedicated colleagues and making a tangible impact on the lives of people worldwide. Here are some highlights from the past half-decade: - Crisis Response: Mobilized effective responses to the fall of Kabul, the war in Ukraine, and the Israel-Hamas conflict. We raised upwards of $1 million for humanitarian aid and facilitated the formation of 34 local private sponsorship groups to welcome over 100 individual refugees in California. - Policy Wins: Successfully advocated for policy and funding wins for HIAS' four California resettlement affiliates through strategic partnerships with organizations like Jewish Public Affairs Committee of California (JPAC) and the CHIRLA-led CA Welcomes Coalition. This resulted in securing $8 million over three years for asylee case management, putting up strong fronts to secure state support for asylum shelter programs at the border. - Partnership Expansion: Grew HIAS' reach by recruiting JFCS of Long Beach/West Orange County to become our newest California resettlement partner to earn U.S. Department of State approval to welcome newcomers. - Advocacy and Education: Designed and implemented numerous advocacy and educational programs to empower individuals to take action on behalf of refugees. These initiatives have had a profound impact on raising awareness and fostering support for our cause. While reflecting on our achievements, it's clear that the refugees, asylum seekers, and other forcibly displaced people are increasingly politicized worldwide, making our work more crucial than ever. #Collaboration ▶ It's so good to exchange ideas with partners who have the same goal. ▶ We want a world in which people are not forced to leave their homes because war, violence and lack of protection force them to do so. ▶ Nobody is a refugee by choice! ▶ UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency's National Partners in Europe met in Stockholm to exchange ideas and talk with #UNHCR colleagues about how to mobilize even more direct support from civil societies for UNHCR. ▶ Together we stand #withrefugees

I truly believe in standing by each other, not just lending a hand. We all need someone in our corner, cheering us on and helping us reach our dreams. It's about more than just helping – it's about supporting by believing in each other's abilities and giving each other the support we need to succeed.
