Busy week, busy ecosystem #TechWeekinReview shows preparations, lot of activity, financing in search. ➡️bonapp.eco opened a 2-million-euro financing round to support its international expansion. The startup helps fighting food waste by connecting customers with food providers such as restaurants, cafes and shops offering discounted products which are nearing expiration date. The startup was recognized for its contribution and development as The Startup of the Year at the recent professional community event ANIS Romania Gala. ➡️The ecosystem is dominated by intense learning, sharing, networking which is also mirrored in busy angel investors agenda. In just one week our members were actively involved in Bulgaria (Digitalks), the UK (Endeavor), Greece (Start for future) and, of course, Romania (Launch Romania, Factory Bootcamp and at Techstars Startup Weekend Romania where ionut iliescu, TechAngels member participated as mentor during this weekend. A few years ago, several people asked "why do we need to go to Hokkaido instead of Tokyo?" Nobody asks this question now. Several startup founders left Tokyo this year in order to relocate to Hokkaido. Now is the last momentum that we can set up the basis of our startup ecosystem in Hokkaido, and this momentum will never come back. Yesterday we saw again what benefit a neutral third party trust provider like the Urban Tech Helsinki Incubator can bring to the table. Well one of them at least. We had and incredibly open and fruitful event where the incubator startups met with our stakeholders from Business Helsinki Helsingin kaupunki – Helsingfors stad – City of Helsinki, University of Helsinki, Metropolia University of Applied Sciences and Aalto University. They sat on the same side of the table and discussed how the startups could help the stakeholders and how to improve their solutions to match the needs of cities and other customers. I believe some of the startups took good strides forward in a short time. Lesson learned. Sit together and discuss openly. Be on the same side - at least in principle. We are all trying to make good.
