🇺🇳🇮🇱 The call for accountability has never been more urgent. As highlighted by a top UN Humanitarian Official, the lack of consequences for the killing of humanitarian aid workers in Gaza is a grave injustice. This impunity not only undermines the rule of law but also perpetuates a cycle of violence and suffering. ⚖️📜 There is widespread demand for a more aggressive approach to hold those responsible accountable. The international community, including bodies like the UN, ICC, and Human Rights Watch, must intensify their efforts to ensure justice for the victims and their families. Let us not turn a blind eye to these atrocities. Stand up for human rights and the protection of those who risk their lives to provide humanitarian aid. It's time to act and ensure that justice prevails. #palestine #gaza #unitednations

Gaza one year on: European Union and its Member States should take decisive diplomatic action to ensure the protection of civilians, uphold International Humanitarian Law (IHL), and guarantee unimpeded humanitarian access in Gaza. The time to act is now!
📢Almost a year after the escalation of violence in #Gaza, the humanitarian crisis continues to deepen, with devastating consequences for civilians. Since October 2023, over 41,000 Palestinians have lost their lives, including more than 11,000 children, and the situation is rapidly deteriorating in the region. Humanitarian workers are also at risk, with more than 280 having been killed while trying to provide aid to those in need. The obstruction of #humanitarian access has left over two million people without essential supplies like food, water, and healthcare. As the leading European network of humanitarian #NGOs, VOICE calls on the European Union and its Member States to take decisive diplomatic action to ensure the protection of civilians, uphold International Humanitarian Law (#IHL), and guarantee unimpeded humanitarian access in Gaza. The time to act is now! 🔽Read our full statement here

“Most of the children in Rafah have already been displaced multiple times by the fighting in Gaza, in direct contravention of international law. We know that as the war enters its 20th week many are injured, sick and malnourished and will struggle to find the wherewithal to move yet again. We estimate that at least 17,000 children in Gaza are now unaccompanied or have become separated from their families, a number that would surely increase in the event of further population displacement. It is imperative to refrain from further military escalation in and around Rafah and to ensure that all hostages still inside Gaza are urgently and safely released. If the parties do not heed this call, they will be responsible for the deaths of many more children, in addition to the thousands who have already perished. Parties to the conflict should urgently implement a permanent humanitarian ceasefire so that our group and other humanitarian agencies can help to roll out the massive, multi-agency operation that is so desperately needed. I strongly urge the authorities to allow more aid trucks through border checks, to lift restrictions on the movement of humanitarian workers, and to guarantee safety for people accessing and distributing aid. The destruction of Gaza and killing of civilians will not bring peace or safety to the region. That can only be achieved with a negotiated political solution, one that prioritizes the rights and well-being of this and future generations of Israeli and Palestinian children." In a shocking display of brazen contempt, Israeli soldiers have been seen boasting about stealing humanitarian aid intended for Gaza, openly mocking the United Nations and the international community's efforts to provide relief to the beleaguered region. Videos and photos circulating on social media reveal soldiers flaunting stolen aid supplies, a move that has sparked outrage and condemnation worldwide. The stolen aid, meant to alleviate the suffering of Palestinian civilians amidst the ongoing conflict, includes vital supplies such as food, water, and medical equipment. These actions not only exacerbate the dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza but also demonstrate a flagrant disregard for international law and human rights. The soldiers' mockery of the UN and other humanitarian organizations adds a disturbing layer to the situation. By openly deriding these institutions, they undermine the global efforts to address the crisis and provide essential support to those in desperate need. This behavior highlights the urgent need for stronger international intervention and accountability to ensure that aid reaches its intended recipients without obstruction. #InternationalJustice #HumanRights #OccupiedTerritories #IsraelPalestine #Accountability #FreePalestine #GazaUnderAttack #StoptheGenocide #BreaktheSilence #PalestinianLivesMatter #EndIsraeliApartheid #IsraelApartheidState #IsraeliWarCrimes #IsraelisTerroristState #InternationalCriminalCourt #UnitedNations #OIC #ICJ #UnitedStates #USIsrael #AllEyesonRafah #IsraelStealsGazaAid #USSupportsGenocide #GlobalPeaceSummit

Some serious lessons in this.
A conversation with Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, more commonly referred to as UNRWA. We speak about the crisis in Gaza. Philippe calls out the blatant disregard for international humanitarian law by Hamas and Israel. He details the brutal conditions for civilians and aid workers, saying the death toll is appalling https://lnkd.in/e9M59ijW

The international community must act swiftly to address the severe human rights violations occurring in Gaza. Immediate and decisive action is essential to prevent further loss of life and to ensure that humanitarian aid reaches those in desperate need. Upholding human rights and international law is a COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITY, and the world cannot stand by as these atrocities continue. It is imperative for global leaders to unite in demanding accountability and to work towards a just and lasting resolution for the people of Gaza.

August 19th is World Humanitarian Day and the theme this year is to #ActForHumanity. Witnessing a genocide in Gaza for more than 10 months is depressing. The Israeli Occupying Forces continue to threaten the foundation of humanitarian work in Gaza by blocking aid and targeting and killing humanitarian workers. Let's call out to the global community to endorse and support International Humanitarian Laws to protect the lives of humanitarian workers who risk their lives to provide aid and support in Gaza. Let's advocate for #ceasefirenow in Gaza as an act for humanity. #worldhumanitarianday #humanity #stopgazagenocide

🌍 The #UnitedNations, which holds the responsibility of providing humanitarian aid, protecting people, and offering support to all nations without bias or discrimination, is facing a major challenge in Gaza. A total of 97 UN aid trucks were looted, yet the UN claims it has no information or details regarding the responsible party. 🚨 In a surprising turn, a reporter asked: Reporter: “You don’t know who looted those 97 UN trucks in Gaza?” The UN responded: “We don’t ask questions in situations like this, especially when an armed group is involved in looting.” 🤔 How can the UN ignore such a significant incident? Where is the transparency and accountability in protecting the humanitarian aid that should reach those in dire need? #UN #Gaza #HumanitarianAid #Accountability #Transparency #HumanRights #Conflict #Palestine António Guterres Tirana Hassan

UNRWA has been a lifeline for millions of Palestinian refugees in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and neighboring countries, offering humanitarian aid, education & shelter. As the occupying power #Israel has a legal obligation to ensure the basic needs of Palestinians in #Gaza and the West Bank, and to uphold their human rights. By impeding UNRWA’s operations, Israel is violating International Court of Justice (ICJ)'s orders for it to take immediate measures to protect Palestinians in the occupied Gaza Strip from the risk of genocide, including by ensuring sufficient humanitarian assistance & facilitating basic services. The Israeli government must urgently revoke legislation violating its obligations, stop the relentless smear campaign against UNRWA and take urgent action to alleviate the humanitarian suffering of Palestinians
