In preparation for Game 2 #stateoforigin, here are some relevant stats for you to consider based on history. Since 1994, 70% of teams (21/30) that win Game 1 go on to win the series. In the 2020s, every team that won Game 1 went on to win the series Since 2004, in the years where the series-winning team won Game 1, 10/14 teams made fewer changes to their squad overall compared to the series-losing team. 11/14 times the series-winning team made 5 or fewer changes. Since 1994, only 28% of teams (7/25) that had the Game 1 home-ground advantage went on to win the series Since 1994, for teams that win Game 1, 43% (13/30) of the time they clinched the series by winning Game 2. NSW has won 7 out of the 13, while QLD has won 6 out of the 13. 8/30 times the game 1 winner clinched the series by winning Game 3. Since 2005, there have been only 6 teams that lost Game 1 and won the series, twice for NSW and 4 times for QLD. 💭 “With a bold new name and brand, this competition will see some of the country’s most talented developing players take to court where they will proudly represent their club colours, competing week in, week out and developing vital experience along the way.” – Claire Nelson, Managing Director of the Netball Super League. The Netball Super League (NSL) has revealed further information regarding the U23 feeder League that was announced as part of the wider plans ahead of the 2025 season. Confirmed as the NXT Gen League, the competition has been developed to deliver extended opportunities for emerging talent, nurture and develop the next generation of world class players and provide a pipeline of talent for the NSL. Fixtures and squad line-ups as well as the new brand identity for the newly named NXT Gen League have been revealed today. Here are five things you need to know: ⚔️ The League will feature nine teams from Birmingham Panthers, LexisNexis Cardiff Dragons, London Mavericks, London Pulse Netball Super League Team, Manchester Thunder Netball, Loughborough Lightning, NIC Leeds Rhinos, Nottingham Forest and Team Bath Netball. 🤝 All teams have revealed their squads on social media today. Head to the individual Clubs’ social media channels to find out who will be taking to court! 📆 The League will begin in February 2025 and will see all nine teams play each other twice in a home and away format to find a national winner, with fixtures aligned to NSL matches where possible. 4️⃣  Eligibility for the competition is for athletes under 23 years, however squads can include up to four players over the age of 23 years to support and enhance the quality of the competition, whilst protecting opportunities for developing athletes. 🚀 Players registered within the NXT Gen League will be eligible, providing they meet the eligibility criteria, to act as a Temporary Replacement Player (TRP) for their Club’s NSL squad, in instances where one of the ten Registered NSL players are not available for selection due to Short Term Circumstances.
