BM+G is proud to launch our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (#RAP). This is a significant milestone as we strive to play our role in #reconciliation. Our RAP follows Reconciliation Australia’s well-established themes of #relationships, #respect and #opportunities, which aligns with our own organisational values: Positive, Disciplined, Professional and Trustworthy. The BM+G Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan 2024-2025 is focused on three key objectives: + Recognition Support internal and external stakeholders to be part of the reconciliation journey, through awareness, promotion, partnerships and storytelling. + Cultural Learning Build and grow our understanding and appreciation of First Nations cultures, histories and knowledge, and support and encourage ongoing learning opportunities for staff, clients and stakeholders. + Collaboration Investigate and leverage BM+G’s extensive industry networks and Council relationships to create or expand collaborative partnerships with key Indigenous stakeholders that support and accelerate training and mentoring opportunities for First Nations peoples, across metropolitan and regional areas of NSW. We thank Reconciliation Australia for their support to date and look forward to working with our staff, clients, industry partners and the community to deliver on our plan. We launched our first Reconciliation Action Plan! 🙌 We are thrilled to receive a formal endorsement of Spec’s inaugural Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan from Karen Mundine, Chief Executive Officer - Reconciliation Australia “Commencing an Innovate RAP is a crucial and rewarding period in an organisation’s #reconciliation journey. It is a time to build strong foundations and relationships, ensuring sustainable, thoughtful, and impactful RAP outcomes into the future. This Innovate RAP is both an opportunity and an invitation for Spec Services Commercial to expand its understanding of its core strengths and deepen its relationship with its community, staff, and stakeholders. By investigating and understanding the integral role it plays across its sphere of influence, Spec Services will create dynamic reconciliation outcomes, supported by and aligned with its business objectives. The RAP program’s framework of relationships, respect, and opportunities emphasises not only the importance of fostering consultation and collaboration with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities, but also empowering and enabling staff to contribute to this process, as well. Spec Services is part of a strong network of more than 2,200 corporate, government, and not-for-profit organisations that have taken goodwill and intention, and transformed it into action." "As a responsible corporate citizen, #SpecServices saw it as imperative that a #ReconciliationActionPlan was created to provide a road map to make a difference in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and contribute to equality rather than be passive." - said Kate Hale, Managing Director Spec Services The journey towards an endorsed Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan began when Spec Services Commercial and the Yarraman Group partnered to create #SpecIndigenous in June 2021. "Through Spec Indigenous we aim to stimulate Indigenous entrepreneurship, business development and provide opportunity for participation and economic empowerment." - said Pete McCann, Co-owner of Spec Indigenous and Founder of Yarraman Group This Reconciliation Action Plan will drive Indigenous education, engagement, collaboration, and knowledge sharing within Spec Indigenous, Spec Services, and local industry. This National Reconciliation Week we are proud to announce the launch of our newly endorsed Reconciliation Action Plan. To help us kick-start our journey, Karyn Ross from Jharmbi & Co facilitated a moving truth-telling and storytelling session that helped us understand how the past influences the present and our journey ahead. The session was overwhelmingly a highlight of our recent offsite conference. We're excited to begin this reconciliation journey, learning more, building relationships and working together with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Many thanks to Reconciliation Australia for supporting us on this journey. Since 2006, Reconciliation Action Plans (RAPs) have enabled organisations like ours to sustainably and strategically take meaningful action to advance reconciliation. Based around the core pillars of relationships, respect and opportunities, RAPs provide tangible and substantive benefits for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, increasing economic equity and supporting First Nations self-determination. #reconciliationweek #NRW2024 #reconciliationjourney #RAP

What a great article from a seasoned professional in our industry! The “hot mess” prevails and almost 3.5 years on, not one recommendation proposed in the QAR has been implemented, that makes any meaningful difference to reducing the cost of delivering quality advice to the Australian public. It’s shameful really, that our politicians have wasted so much time and tax payer money, responding to the QAR to date. Imagine if it took us 3.5 years to deliver a piece of advice to our clients, all the while charging them a fee to do so! If our politicians simply allowed our industry to get on with self regulation, just like our colleagues in the accounting and legal professions, we’d be well on our way to making financial advice accessible to all Australians. How much longer do you want us to wait to get this job done? #gethejobdone #qualityadvice #affordableadvice #financialadvice
