A big thank you to Jake Baker, Peter Riley and Locata Housing Services Limited for having us at their recent launch event of Locata Academy. We heard from Andy Gale who gave us an update on Homelessness, focusing on new ways to tackle the challenges Local Authorities have been facing. Following this, we had the exciting launch of Locata Academy, which will be a game changer for training in the sector. ______________________ #Homelessness #Locata #Houing

In supportive housing, tenants receive intensive coordinated support so they can get back on their feet after experiencing homelessness. Often people transitioning out of homelessness need both a roof over their head and scaffolding to maintain their tenancy. This type of housing acknowledges that social housing is not one size fits all. We’re calling on the Queensland Government to make sure their historic social housing build includes 10% supportive housing. Easy like Sunday morning - looks good Assuming these homes could be designed to accommodate 4 year people at a time :- 136,000 Divided by 4 = 34,000 Less 24 = 33,976 Micro Homes to provide Accomodation for the UK’s current known ( many single mothers are hidden homeless because they want to stay below the radar so as not to see their children taken into care) number of young homeless of 136 k Over 10 years to the date of the next but one election in 2034 that’s 3,397 per annum which is just under 300 such developments per month ( 10 a day!!) just to provide shelter to UK’s current levels of youth homelessness… never mind older homeless nor any young homeless that are becoming homeless as we write. Hills built the Milton Grange development here in Croxley South West Herts at Killingdown Farm. Whilst that was controversial because it has eaten into part of Croxley’s Metropolitan Green Belt you have got to give credit where credit is due to Hills for:- (A) actually building homes rather than talking about it as national & local politicians & civil servants are want to do even if you have to be earning good money to afford them (B) carrying on with its promise to build homes for the homeless through its charitable arm The scale of tackling the homelessness challenge in the UK is enormous: perhaps if farmers were incentivised to build homes on non prime green belt by relaxing the newly imposed IHT rules when they sell so community builders; self builders; custom builders could build their homes there might be a way of addressing this problem. As I said yesterday the amount of food waste in the UK does make you wonder whether there is a large amount of overproduction of cheap food the true value of production of which is not being properly recognised by us consumers. Perhaps Messrs Clarkson & Hills should have a chat … we do have to grasp these nettles of homelessness; bio diversity; dissatisfied farmers; food poverty post Brexit.Sure if you don’t wear gloves when making nettle tea you’ll get stung but as they say you don’t make omelettes without breaking eggs 🥚 .

Rural homelessness has increased by 40% in the last five years and affordable housing makes up only 9% of housing in villages. Our main purpose is to provide homes for affordable rent for those people with a housing need. The range of homes we provide, from rented to shared ownership, sheltered accommodation and care homes means we help many local people. #RuralHousingWeek #PlanForHousing #SocialHousing

Social Housing: A Vital Solution for Affordable Living Recent analysis by Shelter reveals social housing in England is 64% more affordable than private renting, saving renters an average of £828 per month. With a chronic shortage of social homes and record-high private rents, many are being priced out and facing homelessness. Shelter calls for the construction of 90,000 new social homes annually for the next decade to address the housing crisis and provide stability for families. This aligns with the mission of JF Sixteen Homes to offer affordable housing solutions and support community well-being. #AffordableHousing #SocialHomes #HousingCrisis #ShelterUK #CommunitySupport #StableHousing #EndHomelessness #HousingForAll #JF16Homes #AffordableLiving #BuildSocialHomes #HousingSolutions source: https://lnkd.in/eM88mayA

Housing instability, homelessness, and despair are rampant, yet capital to address it is scarce. In NATSEC, I saw resources flow swiftly when needs are prioritized. Housing stability must be treated with the same urgency. It isn't prioritized now. We must change that. #HousingStabilityIsNationalSecurity #Homelessness #HousingStability #NationalSecurity #AffordableHousing #Community

The housing crisis means people experiencing homelessness are being placed in accommodation miles away from the area they call home 🙅♀️ Out-of-area placements have risen by 344% since 2010. Here’s 3 main concerns these people are facing... 1️⃣ Being far from support networks and support services 2️⃣ Being given no choice on their placement 3️⃣ Not knowing how long they’re going to be there This is why we do what we do. To help those most in need, to not only get a home of their own but also receive support, care, a loving community and a second chance to thrive at life!
