The ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association) has released its 2023 Country and City Rankings for hosting international events. 💡 We took a closer look at the Top 40 Ranking of the #2023GDSIndex alongside the #ICCA Top 40 City Rankings, and we noticed a pattern. Ten cities (in no particular order) appear in both lists: #Gothenburg, Sweden #Oslo, Norway #Copenhagen, Denmark #Helsinki, Finland #Stockholm, Sweden #Barcelona, Spain #Brussels, Belgium #Montreal, Canada #Sydney, Australia #Bangkok, Thailand 💪 It is encouraging to see cities leading in both hosting #InternationalMeetings and advancing sustainability efforts. This alignment emphasises the consistency of these cities in hosting events and underscores their significance in the #globalevents landscape. By consciously selecting destinations that align with progressive values and sustainability objectives, we can drive #positivechange and create lasting impacts for generations to come. Each decision to prioritise sustainability in our event planning contributes to a more #regenerativebusiness ecosystem, leaving a positive legacy for the places and the people those events affect. 👉 Read more about the #GDS_index Top 40 here: https://lnkd.in/dQYdpyhM 👉 Read more about the 2023 ICCA Rankings here: https://lnkd.in/ebye8uZy #Meetings #Sustainability #ICCA #GDSMovement #DestinationMarketing #EventProfessionals #FlourishingCities #Regeneration #EventProfs #MICEsustainability #EventsSustainability

At Quadrian we believe passionately in the importance of fostering global linkages among zones worldwide and creating regional synergies, so it was exciting to see the strong representation of Latin America’s free zone leaders at the World Free Zones Organization ("World FZO") Annual Congress in Dubai last week. Leading the charge was the Asociación de Zonas Francas de las Américas - AZFA, alongside Curinde N.V., ANDI - Asociación Nacional de Empresarios de Colombia and free zone trailblazers and innovators from across the region. Julio Rodríguez, newly appointed Executive Director of AZFA, and Claudia Pellerano, President of AZFA and Board Member of World FZO, brought great vigour for global collaborations with peers and partners across the world. The delegations also included a roster of young leaders who are coming up the ranks and reinvigorating the LatAm free zone landscape. While in Dubai, CEOs of Latin American free zones also made site visits to leading hubs such as DMCC (Dubai Multi Commodities Centre) and Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority – a strong indicator how topics such as AI which are core to Quadrian’s innovation drive are shaping the future of zones. As the event progressed and prepared for the closing, it was increasingly clear that this is a new chapter for free zone ecosystems across the globe, represented in force by Latin America and in concert with Africa and the Middle East to write a new chapter of innovation and global collaboration. We are now preparing for free zone leaders and investors from around the world to join us in Curaçao for the XXVII Conferencia de Zonas Francas de Iberoamérica taking place 13-15 November 2024. This milestone event for the region will showcase the latest trends and best practices for zones globally, explore new investment opportunities and examine the impacts of innovation and technology. Quadrian is honoured to be a supporting partner. "𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐭 𝐌𝐈𝐏𝐈𝐌 Last week another MIPIM took place in Cannes, arguably considered the most important fair and meeting point for the real estate industry worldwide. The turnout was huge, more than 20,000 delegates from 90 countries, among investors, global political players, rulers, mayors, key officials from several EU Member States, USA, and others, joined by the whole community of the real estate industry on a global scale. I would say that this was another good moment for sharing know-how and ideas both for our industry and for the world". Tuesday 28 November in Paris at the Bureau International des Expositions the world will vote for the venue of EXPO 2030 THE MAYOR OF ROME, ROBERTO GUALTIERI: ''THE WORLD REFLECTS ON WHETHER ALL EVENTS MUST BE BOUGHT WITH PETRODOLLARS". "Battle not only for Rome but for future multilateral events. … I think we did the best we could. I have made my contribution as Mayor, but everyone is committed, now we have to see if all this work will bring the votes. If the countries believe that all the big international events, from the World Cup to the Olympics to the Expo, now have to go to the Gulf because they are bought with petrodollars. … they are done there because you have more money, we have to accept it. It's a choice, but we say to the world: watch out! … With our proposal, we have put forward the best in an effective and consistent campaign. I am confident because I tend to have the optimism of the will. … We feel that we represent a different model of multilateral events, more in keeping with the spirit of these global institutions, which were not made to be bought by the richest of them all. If Rome wins, it will be a wonderful thing for the city, but also for the future of these multilateral events, it is a battle not only for Rome, but has a general significance. #mayor #rome #expo #expo2030 #italy #People #Territories #Regeneration #Inclusion #Innovation #humanlands

Two Countries, two partners. Cross-border cooperation between #Italy and #Greece has been consolidating over the years as I had the privilege to assist in my previous professional experience. In 2023 Greece has been named #TheEconomist’s Country of the year as the place that has improved the most, following Italy that was named in 2021. According to the latest overall Digital Economy and Society Index (#DESI) both the Countries improved their #digitization positioning. Which KSFs have played the strongest role on these remarkable progresses and improvements and which will be the main challenges for the upcoming future? Which are the main open questions on the wider #Mediterranean area for these two key players in #geopolitical terms? These and much more will be the questions that Eleni #Sourani, #GreekAmbassador in Italy, and Carlo Altomonte, Associate Dean SDA Bocconi, will answer during this #lookingforward event. Opening salutation by Patrizia Falcinelli General Director for Human Resources, Budget and Innovation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. I thank Bocconi Alumni Athens, and Konstantinos Kalogerakis and Sofia Lizzio particularly, for the great collaboration! #BocconiAlumniRoma Francesco Leone Giovanna Teresa Mannucci Francesco Enea @alessandroromano #BocconiAlumni #SDABocconi #PublicSector #Embassy #Farnesina #ministerodegliaffariesteriedellacooperazioneinternazionale Stefano Caselli Antonella Caru Enzo Baglieri Erika Zancan Elisa Centelli #giveback

Au revoir pour l’instant France. Reflecting on a wonderful 11 days on the Cote D’azur, I find myself heading back to Singapore with a quick stopover in Qatar. It started with my first trip to MIPIM and it proved to be exactly what ever had told me it would be and then some. Vast, busy and full of action, the event was both energising and enjoyable. This annual property jamboree in Cannes is a place where blue gilets are almost ‘obligatoire’, potential deals get finalised over a glass of rose or two, and firms and clients strive to keep each other happy. Despite its reputation for ‘fun in the sun’, the exhibition offered some serious undertones with a big emphasis on the “race to net zero”. I still come away though with the sentiment that ‘actions speak louder than words’. Will be interesting to see how things progress. Throughout our various conversations I picked up on a consistent sentiment of 'cautious optimism' about the current plight of the market but with a consensus things are moving in the right direction. An attendance of 21,000 people (over 6000 from the UK alone) suggest sunnier times lie ahead! It was great to see so much Middle Eastern representation at MIPIM, with a large presence from Saudi Arabia, but also participation from Oman and Qatar. The Middle Eastern market remains arguably the most exciting global real estate market today from both a project and talent perspective. After the conclusion of MIPIM, I then managed to stay on for a few days to catch up with my parents and enjoy some of the sights and tastes of the region. It really is a wonderful part of the world. Despite taking a few days off, we continue to get busier with new mandates coming in and the successful closing of four assignments in the last 2 weeks alone. I now look forward to getting back to Singapore and following up on some of the very interesting conversations we’ve had over the last few weeks, firstly at CoreNet Global and then at MIPIM. Il📊 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐚𝐣𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 🌟 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐱 𝐝𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐜𝐨 𝐝𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐞 𝟏: an impressive €90M* in economic benefits for #Monaco, driving tourism and local business growth. 🎬 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐦 𝐅𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥 brings in €200M* to #Cannes, with visitors and events boosting hotel rates and local commerce. Amazing to see the significant economic impact figures of major events, highlighted by a digital media platform focused on investment. However, while the industry includes some publicly listed companies, official numbers are rarely recognized of the overall events industry. Stakeholders continuously try to emphasize and recognize the sector's importance. 🏢 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐠'𝐬 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧: In our city, a clear vision has paid off. Investing €200M in the Palais des Congrès & Parc des Expositions Strasbourg Events which hosts 250 events annually, has not only boosted the economy but also enhanced our city's attractiveness. The impact of these events is estimated at over €130M per year, while also supporting hundreds of jobs and enriching #Strasbourg's intellectual capital. 🌍 𝐁𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭: Events at the Palais des Congrès & Parc des Expositions Strasbourg Events contribute significantly to Strasbourg's cultural and intellectual vibrancy, making it a dynamic and attractive city.
