On Friday, we sent the Chair of the expert group on the interim evaluation of Horizon Europe, Manuel Heitor, a position paper on the next EU framework programme for research and innovation. As outlined by the Council of the EU in its Conclusions on the New European Innovation Agenda, the paper recognises the vital role Eureka plays in the European innovation ecosystem, providing well-targeted support to European companies in accessing global markets. It also strongly advocates for: 🔵Increasing the tenth framework programme's relevance and reach, further strengthening innovation capacity within industry, and particularly among SMEs 🔵Encouraging widening country participation in collaborative projects 🔵Supporting the internationalisation of SMEs and large companies’ R&D and innovation activities to improve their competitiveness 🔵Enhancing synergies in the European innovation ecosystem 👉Eureka and the European Partnership on Innovative SMEs is well-suited to addressing these challenges thanks to its focus on encouraging the internationalisation of European companies through innovative projects, and its horizontal structure that makes it easy and flexible for countries with limited resources to participate. We hope to inspire the expert group in their efforts to strengthen the European innovation ecosystem, recognising Eureka as one of its vital players.
