What does Ofgem's TCR really mean for consumers? 🤔 The Targeted Charging Review (TCR) is a program initiated by Ofgem, the energy regulator in the UK, aimed at reorganising how network fees are distributed and imposed on electricity transmission and distribution network users. ⚡️ One of the main alterations introduced by the TCR pertains to the restructuring of residual charges. Residual charges represent the fees imposed on consumers to cover the overall expenses associated with maintaining the electricity networks, ensuring system reliability and stability. Continue reading to explore the TCR in more details, its implications, and how it will affect energy consumers nationwide 👉🏼 https://lnkd.in/ehUWyspR #TCR #TargetedChargingReview #Ofgem

Top stories today ⚡ A year in the life of DSOs | Setting up and growing https://buff.ly/3Vti9bt Electricity networks have now completed the first year of delivering distribution system operator (DSO) functions under the ED2 price controls. Thomas Grimwood speaks to some of those networks to assess what progress has been made and how their approaches differ. Here he looks at how they have set up and then grown their DSO teams. 🛌 SSEN boss says skills gap keeps him awake at night https://buff.ly/3V6vJRD Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks Distribution’s managing director has said skills and the supply chain are “one of the things that keeps me awake at night”. Chris Burchell told Utility Week Live the energy sector risks missing out on the opportunity to future-proof itself if it does not take a long-term and holistic view of where skills are needed. His concerns were echoed by senior figures at National Gas and NWG (Northumbrian Water Group). 💷 Heavy industry calls for 90% network discounts https://buff.ly/3X1W0mS Heavy industries have called for near total relief from network charges under the government’s Supercharger scheme. In its election manifesto, the Energy Intensive Users Group (EIUG) has called for the ‘British Industry Supercharger’ package to be enhanced. Under the current scheme electricity suppliers will fund a 60% discount, however the EIUG wants that increased to 90%.

Consultation begins on whether AEMO should allow cash credit support, and the AEMC is proposing to expedite the process. The AEMC will determine whether it is in the best long-term interests of consumers to do so based on the National Electricity Objectives (NEO). But what weights to put on different elements of the NEO? Should stability and reliability of electricity supply have an equal weighting to emissions reduction? https://lnkd.in/guQSJUGM

Fiscal year FY24 saw frenzied action in the ISTS-TBCB power transmission space with a record number of schemes getting awarded. According to a special study by T&D India, based on official statistics, a record number of 23 interstate transmission system (ISTS) projects were awarded during FY24 – the highest ever in any financial year since the TBCB culture in ISTS power transmission development kicked in way back in 2011. The 23 ISTS-TBCB schemes awarded in FY24 went to as many as nine developers. Once again, this is the highest number of successful bidders associated with the ISTS-TBCB space in any fiscal year so far. #ists #tbcb #powertransmission #utilities #discoms
