Urban-Air Port and BAI Energy (BAI) will work to rejuvenate and modernise aviation infrastructure in #Italy, by redeveloping a trio of disused #aerodromes to support the rollout of next-generation #vertiports. The announcement was made today (Monday) and is part of BAI Energy’s strategic vision. The first three locations under negotiations are in #Venice, #Piedmont and #Trieste. This collaboration will provide BAI access to Urban-Air Port (UAP) technology and services, including design, planning, infrastructure-supply and ability to leverage UAP’s cutting-edge proprietary solutions to equip aerodromes with state-of-the-art facilities and systems. Supported by Invest Italia and the UK Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office, BAI & Urban-Air Port are already working to identify further complementary sites for Phase Two. This will form the basis of a fully connected network supporting passenger and cargo flights. Urban-Air Port (UAP) and BAI Energy (BAI) are teaming up to modernise aviation infrastructure in Northern Italy.   In an innovative strategic vision, the first phase will see the redevelopment of disused aerodromes in Venice, Piedmont, and Trieste into cutting-edge vertiports. This collaboration will leverage UAP's proprietary technology and services to equip these locations with state-of-the-art facilities, supporting next-generation air mobility.   Backed by Invest Italia and the UK Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office, this venture aims to establish a fully connected network for passenger and cargo flights. Hydrogen is a promising option for the future of aviation...... https://lnkd.in/ehtJgcJP #Air101 #Travel #Aviation #avgeek Hydrogen is a promising option for the future of aviation - a new report from market intelligence firm IDTechEx finds that the hydrogen aeroplane market will be worth US$28.4 billion in 2045. However, there is still a long way to go before hydrogen commercial flights take off. Along with aircraft development, infrastructure investment will need to be made at airports to handle liquid hydrogen. As such, it will take some key airports investing in the hydrogen infrastructure to kick-start the hydrogen-air travel market. In 2023, aeroplanes from Los Angeles (LAX) to Las Vegas (LAS) transported nearly 3.5 million passengers, making it one of the busiest routes in the US. Additionally, it is only 380km, making it easy to complete with hydrogen power. These airports are some of the key hubs in the US, along with Atlanta, Denver, Dallas Fort Worth, and Chicago O'Hare. Adding just a few more of the most popular airports in the US to this list and creating a network of 21 airports would cover nearly 25% of the US's domestic air travel demand.

🌍✈️ BSR HYDROGEN AIR TRANSPORT: Preparing Baltic Sea Region Airports for Green Hydrogen The BSR HyAirport project is now underway, bringing together airports, service providers, industry, and research organizations to prepare Baltic Sea Region (BSR) airports for the arrival of green hydrogen-powered aircraft. With air transport being essential for connecting businesses and communities across the BSR, hydrogen-powered aviation offers a significant opportunity to reduce the environmental impact of short-distance flights in this sensitive region. Hydrogen-powered aircraft are expected to enter the market in the coming years, and this project is setting the groundwork to support this transition. The BSR HyAirport project will: • Prepare airports for storing, handling, and delivering gaseous green hydrogen (GH2) as a sustainable energy source. • Evaluate regional green hydrogen supply options and ensure compliance with safety standards. • Develop and test equipment and procedures for refueling hydrogen-powered aircraft. By partnering with airports, technology providers, airlines, and research institutions, the project aims to create a platform for the joint development of solutions that meet the unique challenges and needs of hydrogen-powered aviation in the BSR. This collaboration positions the region to become a leader in sustainable aviation. 🌍✈️ From the initial idea of Hamburg Airport of testing a small hydrogen plane, we've grown into a collaborative project involving six Baltic Sea countries, focused on green hydrogen as a future energy source in aviation. The aim of the BSR HyAirport project is to create the preconditions for adapting airport infrastructure for hydrogen-powered aircraft, preparing airports for the storage, processing, and delivery of green hydrogen. This will be a significant transformation for the industry. Our goal is to revive regional air traffic and enhance connectivity with existing air hubs, achieve cleaner aviation, and pave the way for a more sustainable future. Already, the first steps of our joint project are completed, and the next steps are being planned. This week, we are discussing these at the Project Partner Meeting in Poznan, Poznań Airport.
