3 ways to support your Black ERGs post-BHM/Juneteenth: 1. Increase the budget so they aren’t forced to choose between internal efforts and supporting a charity. 2. Increase the budget so they can expand their programming to more than just panels as an option for upskilling. 3. Increase the budget for them to build and foster community during the other 10 months of the year. Notice a recurring theme? If no, you may be a part of the problem. #EmployeeDevelopment #BlackLinkedIn

Juneteenth: How We Can Educate and Celebrate Today As we honor this significant day in history, it's important to both educate ourselves about its origins and actively celebrate the progress we've made. Here are some meaningful ways to engage with Juneteenth: Learn the History: Listen, learn, and be involved. Visit local museums like the African American History Museum in Washington D.C., or go to your local library and look for African American Literature, History books, and films. Titles like "The Warmth of Other Suns" by Isabel Wilkerson and films like "13th" by Ava DuVernay offer deep insights. Support Black-Owned Businesses: It's important to contribute to economic empowerment by supporting Black-owned businesses. This can be a powerful way to celebrate and uplift the community, and finding them is only a Google search away. Volunteer or Donate: Support organizations dedicated to social justice and equality. Volunteering your time or donating to causes that uplift marginalized communities can make a tangible impact. Happy Juneteenth! www.korecc.com/blogs #Juneteenth #Educate #Celebrate

A message from co-founder Shreya as we celebrate LAI's 4th anniversary this month. "Four years ago, my grandmother - who was self-isolating in her apartment in London at the time - received a letter from a friend. Watching her light up at this act of kindness inspired my sister and me to try and reach out to even one senior in our Boston community. Can you believe that since then, our kitchen-table project has grown into a truly global mission that has delivered smiles to thousands of seniors? In just four short years, over 75,000 people have chosen to write letters filled with hope and connection to more than 85,000 seniors. We have written in 33 languages to seniors in 7 countries. Most incredibly, together, we have written over 825,000 letters! In other words, we have brightened 825,000 days and fought against senior loneliness in 825,000 little ways. None of this would be possible without you. I know each of you has a story as to why you chose to volunteer with LAI, and getting to hear them is one of my favorite parts of leading this organization. Whether you were inspired by an incredible grandparent - like my sister and I were - or just stumbled upon us and liked the idea, we are so grateful for your support." "Not sure a tech thing is going to connect people in the nonprofit space." Our dear friend and supporter Evan Wildstein said that in our first Hive interview (when we were workshopping this idea). Now that The Nonprofit Hive is live we had to have him back to talk about his experiences to date! Our founder takeaways: 1. Hive Chats are giving a voice to ALL nonprofiteers (and that is desperately needed in this space.) 2. Our platform is simple and easy to use (even for the non-techies ❤️ ) 3. Talking about your mission with others is going to JAZZ your nonprofit work up (who doesn't love some mid-week inspiration?) Our Hive is growing because the nonprofit industry needs connection. It needs more community. It needs more opportunities for peer support and heartfelt 1-1's. Hivers, do you have a recent mission you heard about from another Hiver?? Please share in the comments! 🐝 (Also, if you aren't yet giving Evan a follow on LinkedIn, make sure to check out his daily nonprofit truth bombs that are sure to give you a giggle.) #connection #philanthropy #charity #community #nonprofiteer

Welcome to #ChaulkTalk, a short series of meditations for major gift fundraisers. Be on the lookout for them over the next few weeks. I’ve crafted these especially for those of you who spend your days inviting people to join in support of amazing causes around the world. While it’s an obsolete spelling (I really needed the “U” to make the acronym work), I love the colorfulness, creativity, diversity, and beauty that chaulk represents. As an acronym for Compassion, Humility, Awareness, Understanding, Love, and Kindness, the CHAULK virtues stand as pillars that not only guide our professional conduct but deepen our personal growth. You’ll eventually be able to search all six reflections using the hashtag ChaulkTalk. How do you cultivate a mindful approach to your relationships and responsibilities in major gift fundraising? I look forward to hearing how your meditations and prayers illuminate our great vocation and personal interactions. #majorgifts #meditation #prayer #awareness #relationships #fundraising

"A community is like a ship, everyone ought to be prepared to take the helm." - Henrik Ibsen In preparation for our episode of Generosity Experience Live today and my workshop on turning Giving Day supporters into recurring givers, I've also had to balance that not everyone participates in a Giving Day or even knows what I mean by that. I'm going to link to a good overview of the differences between #GivingTuesday and a community giving day, but here's the thing - we have opportunities to turn casual donations into sustainable support at any stage of the generosity experience, not just an organized giving day. These are all just channels—ultimately, people will respond to what is relevant, make them feel they did something important, and make them feel they are part of a bigger movement. You create opportunities for a generosity moment every single day - whenever your founder speaks in front of a crowd about your mission, an organized volunteer day, or a peer-to-peer fundraising event. No matter what, you can tap into that passion and turn it into community building. It isn't about the money, it's about the connection. Who will I see today or tomorrow to dive into this further?

Prepping today for a meeting with a family next week. We're starting to talk through how they evaluate nonprofits for funding. I love conversations like these because they highlight what's important to each family. In particular, this family values EFFECTIVENESS. So part of my role is to help them define this. I'm curious...how would you define effectiveness? #philanthropy #giving #philanthropyadvising #effectiveness
