Thanks Matthew Holman a great way to raise awareness of Neurodiversity, especially in the workplace. Neurodiversity is moving up the workplace agenda for two reasons. Companies wishing to be truly inclusive employers cannot exclude such a significant demographic as the neurodivergent. To continue doing so risks missing out on talent, and compromising on productivity and customer trust. More pertinently, the business case for diversity has highlighted the importance of ‘diversity of thought’ – get people with different perspectives, backgrounds and experiences in a room, and your team will be more innovative and creative. In a sense, neurodiversity may be one of the most challenging areas within diversity and inclusion in the workplace – complex, nuanced, and often invisible – yet it offers a business upside in this context: given that neurodivergent people literally think differently. ‘A lack of awareness and understanding has led to hiring processes, management practices and workspaces being designed only with neurotypicals in mind.’ Including people who are neurodivergent requires a conscious effort on the part of employers.

It's Neurodiversity Celebration Week! 🧠🥳🎉 What better time to have some hugely important conversations around neurodiversity at work? Thank you to everyone for joining our webinar this afternoon in collaboration with Premier Partnership, on Neurodiversity and Inclusion at Work with our specialist trainer Emily C.. Amongst our discussions were some fantastic takeaways around building a more inclusive workplace culture, particularly for our colleagues with neurodivergent conditions: 🧠 Prioritising how a person feels at work - we identified the most important feelings as feeling safe, listened to, respected, confident and comfortable. 🧠 Recognising and respecting self-identification and supporting our colleagues through the challenging process of diagnosis. 🧠 Championing the huge benefits people with neurodivergent conditions can bring to the workplace, including diversity in ideas, different life experiences and their own knowledge and skills. 🧠 Highlighting the simple, practical adjustments organisations can take to be more inclusive, like timetable adaptations, quiet spaces and shadowing and coaching opportunities. #NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek #NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek2024 #NeurodiversityAtWork #EDI #Inclusion #Diversity #Equity #LearningAndDevelopment #Yellowday #PremierPartnership

This week (March 18th-24th) is Neurodiversity Celebration Week! It's a fantastic time to recognise the incredible strengths and perspectives that neurodivergent individuals bring to the workplace. Here are some ways we can all celebrate neurodiversity: Educate yourself: Learn about different neurodivergent conditions! There are many resources available online and through organisations like https://lnkd.in/ejiMW_CT Challenge stereotypes: Neurodivergent people are not all the same. Everyone has a wide range of experiences, strengths, and weaknesses. Promote accessibility: Simple adjustments in the workplace, like flexible work hours or noise-cancelling headphones, can make a big difference for neurodivergent employees. Be an ally: Speak up for your neurodivergent colleagues and advocate for inclusive practices. OHHHHHH AND ALSO.....If you are an employer looking to learn how you can better support a neurodivergent workforce, we are offering free Neuroinclusion training up until the end of March. Last week marked Neurodiversity Celebration Week 🎉 - a time to embrace the unique strengths and perspectives that neurodiversity brings to the workplace. However, celebrating neurodiversity shouldn't be limited to just one week, it's something we can champion all year round. Embracing neurodiversity isn't just just the right thing to do - it's also good for business. Companies with neurodiversity initiatives have reported increased productivity, innovation, and employee satisfaction. 📈 Here are some eye-opening stats about neurodiversity in the workplace: ▪ 20% of the UK population is neurodiverse. ▪ Neurodiverse teams are 30% more productive than neurotypical ones. ▪ 85% of autistic adults are unemployed or underemployed. ▪ 65% of employees fear discrimination from management. Let's go beyond Neurodiversity Celebration Week to support DE&I in all aspects of our lives, both personally and professionally. #Neurodiversity #DEandI #NeuroInclusion #Dyslexia #WorkplaceCulture

🌟 Yesterday marked an important milestone as we kicked off the Championing Neurodiversity Roadshow at AtkinsRéalis, spearheaded by Matthew Nash. It was an honour to be part of the panel alongside three colleagues from our Bristol office, including Nick Draisey. We delved into vital discussions surrounding neurodiversity, shedding light on our personal journeys and experiences. Key topics we explored included: · the timing and impact of receiving our diagnoses. · the factors influencing our decisions to disclose our neurodiverse conditions. · Masking, a common phenomenon among neurodiverse individuals. · Challenges faced in the corporate world. · Ways colleagues can support neurodiverse individuals in the workplace. Whether it's promoting open dialogue, providing accommodations, or fostering a culture of acceptance, small gestures can make a world of difference in creating inclusive workspaces. Thank you to everyone who attended and is engaged in championing neurodiversity, creating a workplace where everyone feels valued and empowered to thrive. I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to participate in such an impactful discussion and look forward to continuing the conversation and driving positive change. #Neurodiversity #Inclusion #ChampioningDifferences ✨

This week is Neurodiversity Celebration Week, aimed at not only celebrating neurodiversity but also challenging the stereotypes and misconceptions of neurological differences. Neurodiversity relates to the unique way the brain is wired, resulting in diversities in the way an individual thinks, moves, processes information, and communicates. In the UK, an estimated 1 in 10 people may be neurodivergent. Every neurodivergent individual has a unique pattern of strengths, skills, and different ways of thinking. Regardless of whether you are a school, university, or organisation, there are many benefits of having different thinkers, such as the ability to unlock creativity and innovation within your teams. In the workplace, Neurodiversity Celebration Week is an important reminder to reflect and consider how employers can adapt their workspaces and ways of working to be more inclusive. Harnessing unique strengths and providing support offers neurodivergent individuals the opportunity to flourish and thrive at work. From adjusting communication styles to providing flexible work arrangements, specialist software, or sensory-friendly spaces, small changes can make a huge difference. Let's use this week as an opportunity to start important conversations about neurodiversity in our organisations. Together, we can cultivate environments that celebrate diversity, and embrace inclusion that enhances both individual wellbeing and the collective strength of our teams. #NeurodiversityAtWork #OccupationalHealth #Neurodiversity #NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek

We are amidst Neurodiversity Celebration Week, and I want to highlight a concept that enriches our workplaces, communities, and societies - neurodiversity. Often, we find ourselves entangled in semantic debates over terms like "neurodiverse" and "neurodivergent." While these discussions have their place, we must remember the essence of this week's celebration. In a playful spirit, I've come across a term that beautifully encapsulates the vibrant spectrum of human minds: neurospiciness (thanks, David Shapiro!). This term adds a dash of humour, and embraces the idea that diversity in thought and cognitive functioning is a valuable asset to any environment. Neurospiciness - or neurodiversity, if you will - represents the vast array of talents, perspectives, and innovative approaches individuals bring to the table It's about recognising and valuing these differences as strengths rather than obstacles. In the corporate world, embracing neurodiversity means creating an environment where everyone can thrive. It's about implementing inclusive practices, fostering a culture of acceptance, and leveraging each individual's unique capabilities. Companies that embrace neurodiversity are not just doing the right thing; they are also positioning themselves for greater creativity, resilience, and competitive advantage. This week, let's elevate neurodiversity. Let's celebrate its richness and work towards creating more inclusive spaces that recognise the value of every mind. Here's to a world that appreciates the spicy blend of neurodiversity! #NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek #Neurospiciness #Inclusion #DiversityInWorkplace
