The Christmas holidays are a time of joy, but they can also present challenges for parents when it comes to young people’s exposure to substance use. Whether teens are having fun, pushing boundaries, or seeking relief from overwhelming feelings, a parent's awareness and support can make all the difference when it comes to alcohol and drug misuse. Teens will make their own choices, but open conversations about the risks, consequences, and staying safe are invaluable in guiding them through the party season. On Monday 25th November, we’ll be welcoming back the inspiring Fiona Spargo-Mabbs OBE, Founder of the drug education charity, The Daniel Spargo-Mabbs Foundation, to talk about how parents, carers and educators can help guide teens towards making safer and smarter decisions about drugs and alcohol. Teenagers today face immense pressure, especially in academic environments. Their attitudes toward this pressure vary widely - from low motivation and inconsistent study habits to perfectionism and overworking. These reactions can deeply impact their mental health, sometimes leading to anxiety, depression, and burnout. Even well-meaning parental pressure can sometimes hurt self-esteem, particularly when definitions of 'success' differ between parent and child. To address these challenges, we'll be speaking with Cathy Ellot, Head of Putney & Streatham High, and Dr. Sarah-Jane Knight for an insightful discussion on creating a balanced, supportive environment for teens. They’ll cover strategies for both schools and families to promote: 💡 Open communication 💡 Realistic expectations and emotional support 💡 A healthy, resilient approach to learning and achievement Register now to join us, plus log in to the hub to discover 60+ talks covering a huge range of teen mental health topics. 💻How Parents Can Help Teens deal with School Pressure 📅 TONIGHT - Monday 11th November, 8pm 🔗 https://lnkd.in/e3RfRFYt #TeenMentalHealth #MentalHealthSupport #SchoolPressure
