It has been one month since the official opening of the Victoria Cross Metro Station along the Sydney Metro + Southwest line. Located in the heart of the North Sydney’s CBD, Victoria Cross Metro station now connects the City to its northern suburbs within minutes. With two new station entries, the project is an urban renewal game changer for North Sydney, adding much needed retail, a new activated laneway and public open space. The soon to be open OSD tower sits above the southern station entrance at 164m above ground. It will feature 61, 500sqm of commercial GFA with a large terrace on level 29. The tower has been strategically positioned above a sky lobby to allow a large portion of the site to be given over to public open space and a rich retail laneway that provides amenity and connectivity to the wider North Sydney CBD. A special acknowledgement to the Victoria Cross team: Bates Smart: OSD Design Architect COX: Station Design Architect LendLease: Developer & Main Contractor ArcMac: Engineering Consortium Arcadia: Landscape Architect Within the first month of opening, these metro projects are having a radical effect on the fabric of our city and those who can now access it. 🚇🏙️ The Sydney Metro City + Southwest line is officially open this week! Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) - Australia Chapter is excited to spotlight the new Gadigal Station north entry and its over station development (OSD), Parkline Place! 💥 Strategically located at the junction of the city’s southern CBD and the Midtown retail precinct, Gadigal Station is changing the way our city is connected. Gadigal station has two entries and two over station developments! Parkline Place is the northern OSD tower, reaching 176.8m tall over 39 storeys. It offers 47, 800 sqm of premium grade commercial space with external landscape amenity at levels 10 and 11. This contemporary tower with large floorplates and uninterrupted views of the city, is architecturally connected to its context. Embracing the datum heights of its heritage neighbours and using a ‘Sydney’ palate of sandstone and bronze colours, this new tower stands proud as a fitting addition to the Sydney skyline. The station entry is celebrated by a glass veil which allows daylight to flood the station plaza concourse throughout the day. Above this ‘veil’, the tower has been articulated into three vertical blocks with curved corner glazing. A special acknowledgement to the amazing teams behind this project: Foster + Partners: OSD and Station Design Architect Cox Architecture: OSD and Station Executive Architect Oxford Properties Group: Properties and Investa: Development Partners Aurecon: Engineering CPB Contractors: Contractor These landmark projects signal a new era of urban excellence. Congratulations to everyone involved from CTBUH! 👏 Stay tuned for the next Metro Station to be featured! Photos: Unsigned Studio, Brett Boardman

Terrific CTBUH cocktail event in Brisbane last week. We heard firsthand about the award-winning repurposing of The Midtown Centre in Brisbane's City Centre from those who played leading roles in its design and delivery. Jessica Lee from Fender Katsalidis, Scott Clements from Inertia Engineering and Scott Miles head of AsheMorgan in Queensland presented highlights of this incredible repurposing outcomes of the project. It was fantastic to hear about the collaborative efforts and ingenuity used to solve some of the more complex and challenging aspects of the project. Thanks to all who attended.
