📸 "Hey, can I film a quick video of your reaction?" That simple question helped a car detailing business combine the power of Google reviews with authentic video testimonials. 🏆 Here's how Ben from Bennys Detailing Studio is crushing it with testimonials: → Captures jaw-dropping "before vs after" moments right when customers see their transformed cars → Naturally collects video testimonials while they're beaming with excitement (just a phone + mic setup!) → Seamlessly blends these videos with his 5-star Google reviews using Testimonial Donut ✨ The genius part? This two-punch approach solves a key trust challenge: • Google reviews show consistent excellence over time • Video testimonials add that raw, authentic emotion you can't fake 🎥 One of my favourite details: Ben keeps it simple. No scripts. No fancy equipment. Just happy customers gushing over their cars looking better than showroom-new. 📊 The results speak for themselves: → Website widget up in minutes → Fresh content for social media → Double the social proof impact 💡 Key insight: The best testimonials happen when you catch genuine moments of delight. Seeing businesses like Ben's use Testimonial Donut in creative ways to showcase their incredible work - that's what gets me excited about building this. 🤔 What's your take on video vs written testimonials? Have you tried combining both? ----- 👋 Hey! 🎢 The entrepreneur's journey is a rollercoaster that most people never see. After years of side hustles - from Android apps to e-commerce stores to SaaS products, from renting out Starlinks to popcorn machines, to interviewing dozens of founders - I've learnt a lot about the reality behind the "overnight success" stories. I'm still very much on this journey myself - not a hotshot entrepreneur, just someone who keeps experimenting and learning. 👇 Raw truths about the entrepreneurial path: ‣ Success isn't linear - most things won't go as planned ‣ "Overnight" usually means 5-10 years of invisible work ‣ The emotional highs are high, but the lows can be frequent ‣ It gets lonely - most people won't understand your journey ‣ The learning curve never ends (and that's both humbling and exciting) 💡 The game-changing realisation: Building alone was crushing me mentally. Then Guy Ligertwood and I decided to join forces. → He was building Founderoo, I jumped in to help → I was building Kaddim, he joined to support → Then together, we launched Testimonial Donut The impact? Everything changed. ✨ Why co-founding transformed the journey: ‣ Complementary skills amplify our impact ‣ Shared mindset but different perspectives ‣ Built-in support system on tough days ‣ Tag-team momentum (when one's down, the other steps up) 🎯 Key lesson: Finding the right co-founder isn't just about business metrics - it's about having someone who truly gets your challenges and helps you push through them. Guy calls it finding a "work wife" 😂 - I call it one of the best decisions I've made in business. ------ 👋 Hey! • Video testimonials are gold if you can find a way to get them. Read below to find out how.

Want to know why video testimonials are so bloody hard to get but worth fighting for? The stats tell an interesting story: ↳ 72% of customers trust a brand more with video testimonials ↳ Video testimonials can boost conversions by 80% ↳ Customers retain 95% of a video review vs just 10% of a written one But here's the reality I see running Testimonial Donut: Getting customers to record videos is like pulling teeth. They're busy, self-conscious, and it's a big ask. One of our customers cracked it: A waxing business in Arkansas offers discounts on their next service for video testimonials. The result? 20% video submission rate (the industry average is way lower). The lesson? Don't just ask for video testimonials. Create a system that makes it worth their time. Here's what works: If you run a business with repeat customers (SaaS, hairdressers, dog groomers, nail salons, gyms), offer a discount on their next service. Think about it: A $20 discount for 60 seconds of their time. That's the equivalent of $1,200 an hour - enough motivation for most people. What incentives have worked for you? #videotestimonials #testimonials #reviews ------------------------------- If you want to follow along, I run Testimonial Donut & Founderoo with Farzan Maghami. Kids in bed 😴 and I'm busting out some personalised welcome emails to customers who signed up today! ✨💌 Yes I know I should automate this, but here is why I'm not: 🍩 I have a look around and see what actions the customers has taken 🔍 🍩 Try and figure out how they found out about TD 🍩 Look up their website and find out what kind of business they are 💼 🍩 Reflect on what problem they are trying to solve with TD 🤔 🍩 Our sign up volumes are manageable enough at this stage 📊 🍩 I personalise the email, which is a nice touch, and makes the user feel valued ✨ Time for bed soon.....after I engage with some Reddit posts related to Testimonials and Reviews. ----- I run Testimonial Donut (making customer reviews easy) and Founderoo (sharing founder stories) with Guy Ligertwood. Building in public while working day jobs - follow along to see if we make it or break it! 🚀

"Want more video testimonials? Start offering incentives. You're not buying fake testimonials, you're nudging busy customers to take action." The numbers are nuts: 92% of consumers feel hesitant to buy when there are no reviews available. Even more telling? 79% of people watch video testimonials before making a decision. But here's the problem most businesses face: ↳ Only 15% of customers "always" leave reviews when asked ↳ 24% never leave them at all ↳ Video testimonials? Even harder to get One of our customers in the US, Jeff, who runs a waxing business, cracked the code. He's getting around 20% video testimonials by offering a discount on the next service. That's why smart businesses are starting to value their customers' time properly. Simple truth: If reviews and testimonials are worth so much to your business, they're worth paying for. You're not buying fake feedback. You're compensating real customers for their time and effort. Some folk don't like the idea of compensating people for this. What's your take on this? #saas #testimonials #reviews -------------------------- If you want to follow along, I run Testimonial Donut with Farzan M.. I've updated my LinkedIn header to bring in the Testimonial Donut Brand and ensure that people visiting my profile are directed to our website. I decided to be bold about what we do at Testimonial Donut and would love your thoughts. All feedback is welcome. I realise I could be 'off the mark' with this. "Let's fix your crappy testimonials. Because boring doesn't sell." My thinking is this: We're finding that when businesses spend a bit of time on their testimonials and reviews, customise them to match their brand and put in a specific plan to get video testimonials, the results are so much better. Is it too direct? Not direct enough? Is the messaging muddled? I feel like I'm too close to be objective and get this right. But I'm not a fan of the normal run-of-the-mill copy that most brands use. Would love to hear what people think about this. Cheers. #testimonials #reviews ------------------------------------ If you want to follow along, I run a few side bets with Farzan M.: Testimonial Donut - Helping businesses collect and showcase testimonials & reviews Founderoo - The newsletter for founders about founders Kaddim - Document & information collection for those still stuck on email We post regularly on LinkedIn, sharing the real ups and downs of building a SaaS business.

The weird truth about trust: why do we believe total strangers over carefully crafted marketing? Businesses spend millions on marketing, yet we're more likely to believe Sarah from Idaho's 2 am review. It's simple psychology: we trust others who've been where we want to go. The numbers are fascinating: 👉 88% of us trust online reviews as much as recommendations from friends and family (Big Commerce) 👉 92% of us feel nervous buying without seeing reviews first (TINT, 2024) We'll watch a shaky testimonial video shot on a phone over a polished ad. Running a testimonial platform, I see this every day. The less "perfect" the review, the more we tend to trust it. Authenticity beats perfection—every single time. What makes you trust a stranger's review? #Testimonials #Reviews ----------------------------------- If you want to follow along, I run a few side bets with Farzan M.: Testimonial Donut - The easy way to collect & showcase testimonials/reviews Founderoo - The newsletter for founders about founders Kaddim - Document & information collection for those still stuck on email We post regularly on LinkedIn, sharing the real ups and downs of building a SaaS business.

I love sharing customer stories like this. 😍 Meet Jeff from Smooth Studios in Arkansas. He found us through Google, signed up for Testimonial Donut, and figured everything out himself (even with our work-in-progress onboarding 😅). But here's what blew us away: Jeff's getting 3 in 10 customers to leave video testimonials. For context, the typical rate is 1 in 10 - if you're lucky. How? He created a simple but effective system: 1. Send collection form after service 2. Offer a discount on the next visit for video testimonials 3. Build on existing customer relationships The results? High-quality, detailed video testimonials where customers spend 30-40 seconds explaining why they love the Smooth Studios service. What makes this extra special, this is for a waxing studio. Getting video testimonials for personal services isn't easy, but Jeff's nailed it. It's amazing to see customers like Jeff using Testimonial Donut on the other side of the world, teaching us new ways to make testimonials work harder. Thanks Jeff - you're showing us how it's done! 🙏 (P.S. Excuse the scrappy video 😬) #Testimonials -------------------------------- If you want to follow along I run a few side bets with Farzan M.. Testimonial Donut (SaaS) Founderoo (Content) Kaddim (SaaS) We post regularly on Linkedin and talk candidly about building in public, entrepreneurship and our growing pains.
