Ensuring the #safety of your food is more vital than cooking itself! It’s that time of the year. Tables get decorated, fridges get loaded and we gather in the spirit of the most wonderful season of all.🍲🎄 However, this season is also a high risk of giving your guests a #foodborneillness if food is not treated right ❗ Indeed, foodborne diseases cause 23 million illnesses and 5,000 deaths annually in Europe, despite the high #foodsafety standards in the EU. Enhancements in the risk assessment structure are essential for creating a strong food system and improving food access for everyone. 🟢 The #HOLiFOODproject is a collaborative effort that brings together NGOs, policymakers, and companies across Europe to develop early warning systems for the early identification of food safety risks. 🦺 To have a complete overview of the project, we have a series of articles for you: 1️⃣ This article discusses the idea of repurposing #foodwaste, highlighting its potential as a valuable resource in both human consumption and animal feed 🔗 https://lnkd.in/e84JHCXq 2️⃣Explore the topic of #alternativeproteins as a necessity for substituting animal protein sources due to shifting consumer preferences, sustainability issues, and concerns for animal well-being.🔗 https://lnkd.in/eMfRsN73 3️⃣ Learn about the strength of #legumes in transitioning to agrifood systems that are more effective, inclusive, resistant, and sustainable. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/e7M3yHvR 4️⃣ A dive into how climate change can disrupt our ability to produce enough safe and nutritious food to feed the growing global population. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eAb_k-ed Enjoy your read and your food! 🌱 How can we overcome #sociocultural barriers for engaging people in #foodsystems transformation? 🤔 How do we ensure that vulnerable communities are part of this change? These were big questions addressed during the joint workshop of #FOODPathS and #CleverfoodEU in Budapest on December 4th. This session brought together diverse stakeholders to discuss the challenges of meaningfully engaging people in food systems transformation. What made this workshop unique? ✅ We used the empathy map methodology, inspired by #FoodStoriesEU’s storytelling tools, to step into the shoes of different personas. ✅ Together, we explored their perspectives, fears, and desires, collecting examples of best practices, ideas and practical recommendations to overcome socio-cultural barriers in engaging citizens in food systems transformation. The key takeaways of this workshop were presented at the #HU24EU #BIOEAST and Beyond Conference, and will guide our work towards sustainable food systems 🌍 Thanks to all participants and facilitators for making the session a success ✨ 💡 Stay tuned for more insights!
