An Update: Building A More Sustainable Future 🚗🌱 In the last few years, you may have noticed that we’ve gradually added electric vehicles (EVs) to our fleet. In 2025, we’ll take this a step further, making 1 in 5 Modo vehicles electric with the addition of 60 new EVs. Over time, this transition to an electric fleet is central to our ongoing effort to reduce our collective reliance on gas-powered vehicles. 🌎 To support this journey, we’re adjusting our Co-op Innovation fee starting January 1, 2025: ➡️ For gas-powered or hybrid cars, the fee will be $3 per trip. ⛽️ ➡️ For electric vehicles, the fee will be reduced to $1 per trip. ⚡️ This adjustment represents less than a 4% increase for typical gas-powered trips, while EV trips will see a 2.6% decrease. We hope this encourages more of you to try EVs as we expand their availability. To hear more about this update and Modo’s vision for the future, we invite you to watch this message from our CEO, Sandra Phillips: https://lnkd.in/gmKA89pw

As housing costs rise across Canada, reducing car ownership is being recognized as a way to free up funds for housing expenses. With car-related costs averaging $1,427/month, transitioning from owning a vehicle to shared mobility can significantly ease financial strain. Carsharing offers the flexibility of access to a car only when needed, eliminating the hefty monthly expenses of payments, insurance, and maintenance. For those in cities with reliable public transit or walkable neighbourhoods, carsharing bridges the gap for occasional trips, empowering more households to allocate funds toward mortgages or rent. Shared mobility isn’t just about getting from A to B. It's about supporting communities in rethinking car dependency. #SharedMobility #Affordability #SustainableLiving #CarSharing
The average monthly cost of a new car in Canada is $1400 including gas, insurance, etc. When transit becomes faster, more frequent, more reliable, a few more families are finally able to swap their $1400 car bill for a $140 transit pass. https://lnkd.in/gm2rfXYt

Check out this feature from the BC Co-op Association and learn more about the incredible work that The Cleaning Co-op is doing. They have been instrumental in helping Modo keep our vehicles clean for our members! 🚗🫧 Big shout out to the amazing people at TCC! 👏
✨ Member Spotlight ✨ The Cleaning Co-op is transforming the cleaning industry by paying living wages, creating opportunities to reskill, and providing pathways to member ownership. The cleaning industry notoriously profits off the undervalued labour of janitorial workers, but The Cleaning Co-op is flipping that model by dedicating the majority of its revenue to labour, specifically those who are doing the hard work. The Cleaning Co-op was born out of the shared experiences of three women who faced systemic barriers in the cleaning industry, including exploitation, discrimination, and patriarchal practices. Determined to create better working conditions for themselves and others, they founded Vancouver’s first worker-owned cleaning cooperative in 2023 to provide living wages, ethical employment, and a pathway to co-ownership. Today, The Cleaning Co-op employs 20 staff and services commercial and residential clients across Metro Vancouver. 🔗Learn about or hire TCC: https://www.tccoop.ca/ Are you a BCCA member who would like to be featured in this series?
