Cofounder of GaltTec - world's smallest fuel cells / Customer and media relations

Last week was entrepreneurship week in Tartu. As a part of it, University of Tartu had a campaign introducing some of its spin-off companies. I am not going to lie - seeing my face and GaltTecs logo on a poster was pretty awsome 🤩

🌟 GaltTec Summer days and seminar 2024 🌟 We went to Elva Adventure Park 🧗♀️ and spent the night at one of the most scenic places, Kiidi.🌲Just look at the view! Sorry, I don't have pictures of the coolest parts, including ziplining over Verevi lake. 🌊 But the adventure park sparked some wonderful teamwork. When some people were stuck in the middle of the track, the ones who had already finished, went to give them pointers on how to get over the more difficult obstacles. At the end of the day we went to a traditional smoke sauna, swimming in a cold spring and finished with singing around a bonfire. It was a truly heartwarming day and a half and I hope outings like this can become a tradition to bring the team closer together.

  • You may have seen that we are partnering with SKYCORP Technologies to make an impact in multirotor drone use cases. They are our neighbors at Sparkup Tartu Science Park, where great innovation happens!

🌐✈️ This past weekend, SKYCORP Technologies did not take it easy! We were proud to represent the Estonian Aviation Cluster at the largest aviation event in the region, #EstonianAviationDays at the Estonian Aviation Museum. Our team showcased our Generation 2 hydrogen drone, featuring a trial integration of GaltTec's upcoming game-changing solid oxide fuel cell technology, a partnership with Estonia's only NATO DIANA company. Despite the less-than-ideal weather, we had an amazing turnout with many visitors over the two days. We engaged in insightful conversations and highlighted the advantages of our multirotor drones, which can extend flight times from the typical 20-30 minutes to up to 120 minutes. These drones are game changers for first responders, infrastructure inspections, and lifesaving missions such as search and rescue and disaster response. To top it all off, by the second day, our hydrogen drone earned the title of "Culture Capital drone of 2024" with the special sticker from City of Tartu Culture Capital of the Year 2024. Thank you to everyone who visited us and to the Estonian Aviation Museum for hosting such a fantastic event. Looking forward to more innovation and collaboration in the future! 🚁✨ For more details on the event, visit: https://lnkd.in/dsHHJUVa

It has been a week since Latitude59 and all the other awesome things, so it's about time I did a little recap of my own 😅 On Wednesday GaltTec took part in the first NATO DIANA demo day. Alongside all the other DIANA companies in the Tehnopol cohort, we demonstrated our fuel cells to international defense experts, including the Commander of the Estonian Defence Forces, Martin Herem. We showcased fuel cell use on drones with one of our first clients, SKYCORP Technologies. Then there were two days of Latitude59 with the other wonderful DIANA companies and meeting new people. Among others, I really enjoyed the panel discussion moderated by Kadri Tammai, where the prime minister of Estonia Kaja Kallas, Gundbert Scherf from Helsing and Markus Villig from Bolt discussed the changing landscape of dual-use companies and how the government is starting to realise the importance of meeting startups half way to ensure we have the edge in our defence capabilities. As you might have heard, it all culminated on the main stage, where I was pitching among top 5 startups and ended up with 100 000€ prize from Estonian Business Angels Network (EstBAN), winner title of the Baltic Silicon Vikings New Nordics Pitch Competition and other cool prizes from Net Group Ltd, Google, Workland Offices and PRNEWS.IO. I also want to extend a special shoutout to the DIANA team by our side at Latitude: Goldilock, AVoptics-LightWorks, Anzen Engineering, Lobster Robotics, IceWind, Karen-Maria Toomiste, Marleen Rootamm, Kadri Tammai, Pirko Konsa (+ REVOBEAM, GIM Robotics and Dronetag who weren't there physically this time) and of course my colleages Glen Kelp and Tanel Tätte. Having such a support network means among other things, that the crowd is going wild any time your name is called. I heard some of you guys to the backstage and felt like a rockstar 😂 🤘 Thank you all so much for the recognition and support for GaltTec!

NATO DIANA companies showcased cutting-edge defense innovations in Estonia! ✨🇪🇪 On May 22, we held a product demo event for NATO DIANA Estonian Accelerator startups and Estonian defense companies, whose groundbreaking technologies aim to bolster NATO's defensive capabilities. Over 100 high-profile international defense experts, including the Commander of the Estonian Defence Forces, Martin Herem, gathered to witness these groundbreaking technologies and lay the groundwork for potential future collaborations. Permanent Secretary of the Estonian Ministry of Defence, Kusti Salm, opened the event, stating: “The Ministry of Defence has been contributing for years to the development of innovative defence technology, and we were one of the pilot sites launching the NATO DIANA programme. I am very pleased to see the first results here. It is important for us that everything that is developed within the DIANA programme should support the improvement of NATO capacity by being useable on the battlefield, and that it should give us an advantage over our adversaries. That makes it particularly important that these solutions can be integrated with the existing defence industry ecosystem, and that they can be tested and get instant feedback.” NATO DIANA companies, who proudly presented their deeptech dual-use solutions - REVOBEAM, AVoptics, Lobster Robotics, GaltTec, Dronetag, IceWind, Anzen, GIM Robotics, Goldilock. 👏 Stephen Kines, the CEO of Goldilock, said that they had not been fully aware of the dual-use potential of their solution before entering the NATO DIANA programme. “We have participated in some top accelerator programmes, but DIANA was unique in the quality of the programme content, the mentorship, and the exposure to stakeholders, which allowed us to develop our dual-use messaging and technology and so was fit for purpose. In particular, the Estonian Tehnopol team were incredible in their professionalism, ensuring that not only did we individually get the best out of the programme, but that the cohort members were able to work as a team to come up with joint solutions,” he said. Goldilock is developing a patented cybersecurity tool for protecting critical assets and data. The product demonstration event of defense technology companies was held jointly with NATO DIANA Estonian Accelerator, the Estonian Defence and Aerospace Industry Association, and Invest in Estonia.
