Wow, what a week - veni, vidi, vici! SKYCORP Technologies is honoured and proud to have been selected as winners by the prestigious jury of the #DECOI challenge in Finland. What an honour coming for the first time from Tartu, Estonia to pitch in Finland at Slush side-events as a multi-use company.  And as amongst the reasons for being selected - hydrogen and increased sustainability were some of them, as highlighted by General Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces (ret) Timo Kivinen and distinct jury members Jan-Erik Saarinen, Tiina Laisi-Puheloinen and Pekka Samuelsson Furthermore, our lead investor BSV Ventures announced with NATO Innovation Fund (NIF) investment of $15M into the fund. Fantastic presentations, startups pitching, discussion and networking included Connect2Scale and the prestigious Knights of Nordics! SKYCORP Technologies CEO, Marek Alliksoo, took part in the EUROCONTROL and European Defence Agency led panel at the European U-space stakeholder network event held in Vilnius on the 5th of September sharing insights from the industry regarding the demand for U-space airspace. 1.5h goes fast when you're sharing the stage with an expert panel comprised of: Aleksandras Nemunaitis, National aviation association LAVIA / Vilnius City Municipality, Lithuania Maj. Marius Chvainickas, Armed Forces Lithuania Thorsten Indra, HHLA Sky GmbH, Germany Huge thanks to Munish Khurana from EUROCONTROL and Christophe Vivier from European Defence Agency for hosting the discussions on key drivers, opportunities and challenges for growth in demand for drone operations and the way U-space serves as an enabler when going from simple VLOS missions to more complex BVLOS, multi-actor, cross-domain scalable operations striving for more automation and autonomy, by "EU Trusted Drones". It’s been nearly 2 weeks since Europe welcomed a new leadership. 🇪🇺🤝🏼 We reached out to our members to gather their hopes and expectations for the newly-elected EU leaders. 🌐✈️ This past weekend, SKYCORP Technologies did not take it easy! We were proud to represent the Estonian Aviation Cluster at the largest aviation event in the region, #EstonianAviationDays at the Estonian Aviation Museum. Our team showcased our Generation 2 hydrogen drone, featuring a trial integration of GaltTec's upcoming game-changing solid oxide fuel cell technology, a partnership with Estonia's only NATO DIANA company. Despite the less-than-ideal weather, we had an amazing turnout with many visitors over the two days. We engaged in insightful conversations and highlighted the advantages of our multirotor drones, which can extend flight times from the typical 20-30 minutes to up to 120 minutes. These drones are game changers for first responders, infrastructure inspections, and lifesaving missions such as search and rescue and disaster response. To top it all off, by the second day, our hydrogen drone earned the title of "Culture Capital drone of 2024" with the special sticker from City of Tartu Culture Capital of the Year 2024. Thank you to everyone who visited us and to the Estonian Aviation Museum for hosting such a fantastic event. Today, we celebrate the "Flying on #electricity and #hydrogen in Europe" publication of the European Commission’s Alliance for Zero-Emission Aircraft (AZEA) vision document. ✈️🌍 Take-aways: ✈️ ZE aviation can Abate up to 43 megatonnes (Mt) of CO2 annually on Intra-European routes by 2050 (36-68% of flights) ✈️ 1,2 to 2,9 Mt/y of hydrogen (or 3.4 Mtoe - 8.3 Mtoe/y - slightly above the forecast considered in the Impact Assessment accompanying COM(2024)63 on Europe’s 2040 climate target and path to climate neutrality by 2050) ✈️It identifies barriers and challenges to be addressed through coherent actions by the members of the ecosystem, related to aircraft production and certification, aerodromes, airspace, regulation and standardisation, etc. ✈️European aviation currently estimated to support nearly 5 million jobs and contribute €300 billion to European GDP! ✈️Additional materials coming to identify in greater detail the ecosystem and policy requirements needed, including guidance at individual Member State level. ✈️New, Lighter-Than-Air vehicles with electric propulsion could open new markets such as unmanned surveillance, cargo, or luxury tourism. Work needs to start now, but it also highlights that "aviation’s needs for electricity and hydrogen must be factored into national and European energy plans" and this is what we're not yet seeing on a MS level, maybe time to update the old drafts to allow for new business models to enter national plans as well?
