Our favorite news from Slush so far: Taito.ai just announced their $2,7M seed round led by Accel to reimagine performance management. There's a growing realization that traditional performance practices struggle to match the pace of modern work environments. Annual reviews, 360 feedback, and 1-on-1 meetings lack automation, draining the time and energy of the people building the business. Taito.ai is developing the first all-in-one AI-powered platform for enabling growth and development in a way that doesn't feel forced. "Taito is re-inventing performance software with seamless integrations that adapt to how employees work, not the other way around," Sonali, Partner at Accel, describes. The product is currently in closed Beta and trialed by leading European tech companies. "It seems clear to me that traditional performance processes and tools are broken. I'm really excited to support Taito.ai fix them," says Niilo, CTO of Wolt, one of the first Beta clients. We absolutely can't wait to see where this goes! Go Kristo, Juho, Mikko, Noora, and team 💜

We've joined forces with a group of founders, operators, doctors, academics, and policymakers to build a children's hospital and research institute in Ukraine. The need for mental and physical rehabilitation for war-affected children is urgent. Nadija - Children's Foundation is our commitment to making an immediate and lasting impact. "This is an opportunity to be a small part of doing some concrete good," says Miki, who's part of a group of Wolt operators and co-founders backing the project. Our next steps: 1. We start with a virtual hospital to quickly deliver accessible mental health services. 2. Following is a research institute to spread the best European rehabilitation practices and advance new knowledge. 3. Ultimately, we'll establish a physical rehabilitation hospital that will treat children directly and also serve as a long-term hub for pediatric psychiatric care, trauma recovery, and medical rehabilitation. Helsingin Sanomat wrote a story about the project today: https://lnkd.in/d4wT2YBf We're grateful to Anne Berner spearheading the project and everyone who's jumped on board (Ilkka, Mikko, Risto, Marianne, Riku, Juhani, and more) 🇺🇦

Wowing us this week: Harry Stebbings pulled in $400M to invest in early-stage tech startups. 20VC’s new fund will focus on backing startups in Europe, highlighting and feeding the potential in the region. “I follow great entrepreneurs. I think it’s absolutely bullshit that we think we’re smarter than markets. If there’s one thing we have to learn, it is that great founders shape markets. And if that’s the case, my job is to simply find the best founders before anyone else," Harry explains, and we couldn't agree more. Congrats, 20VC – we're happy to be onboard!

Tebi is on the side of independent businesses everywhere. It's is a platform as technologically powerful as an enterprise product, but relies on empathetic design to honor and center the needs of business owners and their staff in cafés, restaurants, bakers, and all kinds of small shops. Tebi, like Adyen, is a business that’s being built in a radically different way. The team believes in playing the long game, with an eye on the enduring success of customers and the communities they serve. They just raised their first round of funding from Index Ventures to continue their mission. “We’re bringing all the lessons we learnt at Adyen to give these businesses the tools they need to be sustainable. By giving access to the same capabilities as large-scale operations, we want to help level the playing field for the businesses that bring life to our cities and neighborhoods," Arnout tells Fortune.

Hot to go! Europe’s future rides on building a powerful tech ecosystem, and these 100 startups recognized by WIRED are leading the way. Congrats to our close friends and other brilliant makers who made the cut! ❤️🔥 SLAY (Fabian, Jannis, Stefan) ❤️🔥 Volt.io (Tom, Steffen, Jordan) ❤️🔥 Paebbl (Marta, Andreas, Jane) ❤️🔥 Realm (Miika, Mikko, Johan) ❤️🔥 Bob W. (Niko, Sebastian) ❤️🔥 Noice (Jussi, Jenni, Jaakko) "As society enters the age of AI, and financial markets put renewed value on business fundamentals, our understanding of what makes a successful tech company is evolving. Promise alone doesn't make a national, regional or global champion. Champions are those companies that combine both the promise of untapped growth and the fundamental metrics that demonstrate strong and sustainable customer demand."

What if concrete could become our biggest CO2 storage solution? Paebbl stores carbon dioxide permanently and at scale with their nature-inspired mineralization technology. They just raised $25M from Capnamic, Amazon Climate Pledge Fund, Holcim MAQER Ventures, and GOLDBECK's family office Aurum Impact to supercharge their work. Congrats, Andreas, Marta, Jane, Pol, and the team! Learn more about how Paebbl makes things concrete:
Every year, we produce 30 billion tonnes of concrete around the world to build housing, roads, bridges, dams and other infrastructure. And we are not slowing down; from now on, every single month until 2050, we need to build a new Manhattan's worth of infrastructure, primarily out of concrete. At the same time, the way we have made concrete until now can no longer continue; it is already responsible for more than 8% of global GHG emissions every year. What if those 30 billion tonnes of concrete could be made in a way that stores CO2 instead of emitting it? Paebbl's proprietary CO2 mineralisation technology turns captured CO2 to cementitious materials; making carbon-storing construction materials a reality while providing a large-scale, permanent home for all the CO2 we have to capture. Together with our new investors Capnamic, Holcim Holcim MAQER Ventures, Amazon Climate Pledge Fund, Aurum Impact of GOLDBECK and our existing investors, we are kicking the transition to second gear and preparing to take our CO2-storing SCM to market.
