🚀 HE - RATION at ABIM - Annual Biocontrol Industry Meeting 🚀 The 19th ABIM - Annual Biocontrol Industry Meeting (ABIM) 2024 welcomed 2040 participants from 67 countries, underlining the central role that biocontrol plays in ensuring that agriculture within the planet's limits is productive and profitable. Organised by the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL) and the International Biocontrol Manufacturers Association (IBMA), the event took place in Basel, Switzerland, from 21 to 23 October.  This year's event featured cutting-edge innovations, round-table discussions with leading regulators and in-depth presentations, including on our HE - RATION project 🌿

🗨️ HE - RATION - 2nd CONSORTIUM MEETING 🗨️ On September 25th and 26th 2024, our second consortium meeting was held at our partner INIA in Madrid. The event was an opportunity to attend presentations from the various working groups and to review the main progress made over the last twelve months, as well as to take part in discussion groups and exchange views with members of our Advisory Board, who were also present for the occasion, and to organise future activities. We'll keep you posted!

We're talking about HE - RATION 📣 On September 19th and 20th, the "Novel Pesticides Towards Sustainability in the Regulatory Framework of the EU" conference was held in Dusseldorf, Germany. It was an opportunity for our partner Khalid Amari to discuss Risk assessment for novel technologies, with a focus on RNAi and for our coordinator Dimitrios Karpouzas to present our HE - RATION project. 

🧪 Online workshop on plant extract and semiochemicals for HE - RATION In May 2024, members of WP3 (which focuses on pesticides based on plant extracts, semiochemicals and pheromones) held an online workshop to establish initial contact with the relevant task force.  As well as reviewing the objectives, tasks and challenges associated with this WP, the task force was able to contribute to a survey designed to highlight the most important issues on which the WP3 should focus and for which it should find solutions. According to the survey, the most important issue is the identification of a complex mixture of botanical extracts. Other important issues are the biodegradability of natural products and the production methods for plant protection ingredients. Other workshops of this kind are being organised in the various WPs of the HE - RATION project.

🧬 Online workshop on risk assessment of ds-RNA pesticides for RATION ! At the end of August 2024, members of WP4 (which focuses on the risk assessment of dsRNA-based pesticides) organised an online workshop to establish initial contact with the task force involved.  The outcomes included a comprehensive introduction to RNA interference (RNAi) and a focused discussion of the critical issues surrounding dsRNA risk assessment.  The 34 workshop participants engaged in an in-depth question-and-answer session, addressing working group members' concerns about the risk assessment of dsRNA-based pesticides. Other workshops of this kind are being organised in the various WPs of the RATION project.

On 7 May we had our 4th inter-project meeting with the GeneBEcon EU project and HE - RATION Horizon Europe projects in 2024 to discuss joint activities for the upcoming 6 months. A draft of a collaboration paper was presented and updates from each project were discussed.

📢 We're talking about HE - RATION ! The coordinator of HE - RATION had the opportunity to present the project at a workshop on the rational use of pesticides organised by Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IMBB) in Crete on April 22nd.  Below, the programme and other projects presented during the workshop.
