📺 The UCD Mission of Observa Science in Society: Information, AI and Decision Making 📺 Here is the third and final part of our video series "The UCD Mission of Observa", where, guided by Stephen McNamara, a research instructor at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, we delve into the potential of AI for early diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases and ways of communicating with patients and the public. To complete this journey, Stephen addresses the key role of transparency in communicating advancements and providing information about new treatments. It’s all about giving people the whole truth, so they can evaluate whether to introduce AI in their particular cases, because it is directly affecting their lives. After all, science is for everyone and must be open to the public. 🔗 Watch the video here 👇 https://lnkd.in/dxnHUreM Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe to stay updated with our latest videos and developments. 📺 The UCD Mission of Observa Science in Society: The Eye. The mirror of the body 📺 Here is the second part of our video series "The UCD Mission of Observa", where, guided by Stephen McNamara, a research instructor at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, we delve into the potential of AI for early diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases and ways of communicating with patients and the public. This time, Stephen tells us about the eye's potential to make diagnoses and establish connections between the whole body. This improves the quality of life for patients, increasing certainty about different diseases, as well as establishing specific therapies and treatments instead of jumping from one specialist to another. Stay tuned for the last episode on the following week! 🔗 Watch the video here 👇 https://lnkd.in/ey9sGUtA Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe to stay updated with our latest videos and developments. 🚀 The Brain Innovation Days 2024 have just wrapped up, and what an incredible experience it was! 🌟 Organized by our amazing partner, the European Brain Council, this event involved talks and lectures on neuroscience and innovation. Our coordinator, Gianmaria Silvello from the Università degli Studi di Padova, had the privilege of participating in this fruitful meeting. 🤝🧠 Gianmaria was part of the BRAINTEASER Project sessions, which brought together key actors on the way from lab to the market to stress the power of collaboration to accelerate the translation from research into innovation. Brainteaser technology was developed with and tested by people living with MS and ALS from 4 different European cities. As the project comes to an end, the democratization of Brainteaser solutions is a pressing issue. 🔍 To find out more about this event, check the news section of our website: https://lnkd.in/dBWKCjfD #BIDs2024 #BIDays #BrainInnovationDays #braininnovation #MentalHealthMatters University of Colorado | Aalborg Universitet | Università degli Studi di Padova | Radboudumc | Ontotext | HES-SO Valais-Wallis | Universidade Nova de Lisboa | European Bioinformatics Institute | EMBL-EBI | Technische Universität Graz | SURF | Università degli Studi di Torino | Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) | Centro Nacional de Análisis Genómico (CNAG) | FEUGA. Another very important aspect of the #Hereditary project: a deep look into societal aspects which are strictly related to terminology. How do we talk about the gut-brain interplay? How do we transfer academic and medical knowledge to the citizens?
Tenure-track Assistant Professor @ Università degli Studi di Padova | Terminology, Specialized Translation, Technical Communication
This morning, the first edition of the Health Social Lab took place at the Department of Neuroscience in Padua, organized by Observa Science in Society as part of the HEREDITARY project. The session with patients provided valuable insights into the challenges of #medicalterminology in the doctor-patient interaction. As part of the ongoing work within the HEREDITARY project, we are developing a multilingual terminology resource aimed at bridging these communication gaps. This resource will help facilitate clearer interactions between healthcare professionals and patients, ultimately contributing to better healthcare outcomes and improving overall #healthliteracy. Thank you to Observa Science in Society and all participants for this enriching experience! #Healthcare #MedicalCommunication #Terminology #HEREDITARY #HealthSocialLab

🧠🌐 Kicking off a transformative journey! On Monday, November 11, our partner Observa Science in Society started the Health Social Laboratory cycle of meetings with its first workshop, hosted at the neurosciences library of the Università degli Studi di Padova. A diverse group of clinicians, patients, computer scientists, entrepreneurs, caregivers, and patient associations came together to dive into discussions around technology, communication, and ethics related to neurodegenerative diseases. 🎯 This unique event offered a powerful opportunity to explore the connections and gaps between patients, clinicians, and researchers. Key takeaways included the harmonization of data sources, the networks between different clinical and research centers, the correct use of technical language and communication with patients. #HEREDITARYProject, #DataIntegration, #HealthInnovation #HSL #CitizenScience University of Colorado | Aalborg Universitet | Università degli Studi di Padova | Radboudumc | Ontotext | HES-SO Valais-Wallis | Universidade Nova de Lisboa | European Bioinformatics Institute | EMBL-EBI | Technische Universität Graz | SURF | Università degli Studi di Torino | Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) | Centro Nacional de Análisis Genómico (CNAG) | FEUGA.
