Empowering the Frontline: The Gender Case for Investing in Community Health 🌍 Community Health Workers (CHWs) in Sub-Saharan Africa, over 70% of whom are women, are the backbone of primary healthcare. They bridge the gap between health systems and communities, playing a crucial role in improving maternal and child health, combating infectious diseases, and addressing gender-based violence (GBV). Despite their invaluable contributions, CHWs face systemic barriers such as inadequate pay, lack of formal recognition, and gender-based harassment. Join us on December 5th for a pivotal webinar where leaders from governments, funders, and community champions will discuss strategies to recognize, protect, and empower CHWs. This session will explore how targeted investments and support can strengthen their role in building resilient health systems and advancing initiatives to address GBV. 🎙️ Moderated by Shivani Shukla, our esteemed speakers include: 👉 Graham Snead, Program Officer - Gender Integration at Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation 👉 Charity Banda, Community Health Volunteer, Ministry of Health of Zambia 👉Dorothy Mwengei, FAH Health Financing Technical Advisor and Gender Champion 📅 Date: 5th Dec 🕐 Time: 1:00 PM EAT 🔗 Register Here: https://lnkd.in/dZDRtQmk This year's theme for the 16 Days of Activism is UNITE to End Violence Against Women and Girls.
