🙌 Five to follow 🙌 This week we are sharing five films about women’s sexual health that everyone should see. 🎥 Film is a powerful medium for telling stories that might otherwise go unheard. Here are five of those stories that everyone should watch. 🎥 Zurawski v Texas (2024): Amanda Zurawski and the Center for Reproductive Rights sued the state of Texas for clarity in its near-total abortion ban–a suit that eventually gained 22 plaintiffs. This film tells their story and sheds light on the painful consequences of restrictive abortion laws. 🎥 The Dilemma of Desire (2020): This film follows four women working to break down the lies and taboos surrounding women’s sexual pleasure and the patriarchal push to control their bodies. Through these journeys, they seek to empower women to embrace their own desires, fostering a dialogue that promotes understanding and liberation. 🎥 Pandora’s Box: Lifting the Lid on Menstruation (2019): Pandora’s Box addresses the issue of menstrual inequity, highlighting the disparity in access to menstrual products and education that results in millions globally lacking the information and supplies necessary for their menstrual needs. 🎥 Impure (2024): Impure tells the story of a young Kenyan girl who is shamed when she gets her first period during school. The story is inspired by the real-world tragedy of Jackline Chepng’eno, a 14-year-old who took her own life after being humiliated for bleeding on her school uniform. 🎥 Plan C (2024): Plan C Pills an organization in the US that provides access to medically safe, self-managed abortions. This documentary follows the activists and healthcare providers working to expand knowledge of and access to the abortion pill in the US during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic and the fall of Roe v Wade. #FiveToFollow #SRHR #WomensHealth #Storytelling #FilmForChange

🚨 Social Media Censorship Spotlight 🚨 It’s Friday, and we’re back with another example of biased ad practices on social media platforms. 🟢 ACCEPTED: An ad by His promoting Erectile Dysfunction treatment with provocative language like "get hard, stay hard" and an eggplant for imagery symbolizing an erected penis. 🔴 REJECTED: An ad by Intimate Rose promoting their pain-intimacy services using language like: "pain with intimacy" and a couple embracing each other for imagery. This stark difference highlights a troubling reality: access to health information is a human right, yet Big Tech continues suppressing critical health content. While progress like the European Commission's Digital Services Act gives hope, it’s on us to hold these platforms accountable for fair advertising practices. 💻✊ Have you or your organization experienced similar censorship? It's Friday and we're sharing another example of Social Media Censorship 💻 Here are two Instagram ads by health companies: one accepted vs one rejected. The first is by Hims promoting their Erectile Dysfunction treatment. It uses words like "hard" and the imagery of a hand holding a pill. This ad was 𝗔𝗖𝗖𝗘𝗣𝗧𝗘𝗗. ✅ The other is by Oh Nut /The Pelvic People highlighting the real impact caused by the gap in women's health, leading to extended delays in the diagnosis of endometriosis. No imagery is shown. This ad was 𝗥𝗘𝗝𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗘𝗗. ❌ Access to health information is a human right. Big tech platforms systematically remove critical health content that can improve people’s wellbeing. And while we're thankful to see progress here in Europe through advancements like the European Commission's Digital Services Act, we as people need to participate and hold big tech platforms accountable and ensure they institute fair advertising practices.🙌 Are you working at a European health company that has experienced social media censorship while promoting your product/service? Please complete this survey in partnership with CensHERship: https://lnkd.in/dde98aRQ Your experience can help change the social media landscape for the better🙏 And until it gets better, join us on Fridays for an example of censorship. 📢 #SocialMediaMarketing #Investing #Censorship

COP29 Azerbaijan is underway this week, and calls for climate-resilient health systems are being amplified. Here are 5 to follow: driving change at the intersection of climate and women’s health This week, we spotlight five organizations and companies pioneering efforts at the intersection of women’s health and climate change. From eco-friendly products to impactful advocacy and the latest industry insights, these initiatives are leading the way toward a more sustainable and equitable future. 🌿Project Dandelion: The first global, women-led campaign for climate justice. #MenstrualJustice is one of seven focus areas in its recent campaign highlighting how “every issue is a climate issue.” 🌿Global Menstrual Collective: The GMC has been driving menstrual advocacy since its founding in 2019, and has recently stepped into the climate space with a working group focused on its intersections with menstrual health. 🌿Vyld: Putting periods and sustainability hand in hand with products made from absorbent seaweed fibers. Vyld sources its seaweed from controlled cultivation that counteracts ocean acidification and provides habitat for other ocean species. 🌿Sustainable Femtech Network: A global community pushing for sustainable innovation in #FemTech. The monthly newsletter is packed with the latest news and insights on sustainable products, funding, and initiatives in the industry. 🌿Fluus: Biodegradable and microplastic-free pads that are made to be flushed down the toilet. “We just have to keep fighting”: a shocking new film on the danger of US abortion laws. At The Case for Her, we believe in the power of storytelling 🎥 to inspire change. That’s why we invested in Zurawski v. Texas, a documentary that sheds light on the personal and painful consequences of restrictive abortion laws. This important film shares the story of Amanda Zurawski and the Center for Reproductive Rights suing the state of Texas for clarity in its near-total abortion ban–a suit that eventually gained 22 plaintiffs. ⚖️ By supporting projects like Zurawski v. Texas, we’re working to ensure that stories with the potential to drive real change reach audiences around the world 🌍. A huge thank you to the filmmakers and everyone involved for bringing this vital story to life. 📰 Adrian Horton shares more in The Guardian piece below. #ReproductiveRights #abortionishealthcare #ReproductiveJustice #AmplifyingVoices #ZurawskiVTexas #WomensRights #SRHR Maisie Crow Abbie Perrault HiddenLight Productions Johnny Webb

#COP29 is underway! #MenstrualHealth may not feature on the agenda - but #climatechange is relevant for #menstrualhealth #menstrualhygiene! The Global Menstrual Collective is looking into how - 🔴Climate change events (both rapid onset and slow onset) disrupt access to essential information, menstrual products, WASH and disposal facilities and services 🔴Climate change affects menstrual health- compromising menstrual hygiene practices, affecting menstrual cycles, and even intensifying menstrual concerns and disorders 🔴Climate change reinforces and deepens gender and social inequalities, compromises safety and security, builds on vulnerabilities - affecting the lives and experiences of people who menstruate 🔴Menstrual products, across the value chain, from production to end of life treatment, have environmental implications The Global Menstrual Collective is unpacking these interconnections and exploring climate resilient interventions to support menstrual health and hygiene. Happy Social Media Censorship Friday! 💻 Today we are showing you some accepted vs rejected health company ads on Meta. As you can see in the image below is an ad from "Manscaped" promoting their manscaping product using words like "balls" and imagery of two oranges in a bag symbolizing the testicular region of a man. This ad was 𝗔𝗖𝗖𝗘𝗣𝗧𝗘𝗗. The other ad is from Love Matters Kenya promoting an article discussing the importance of consent. The words used are "consent" and the imagery is a woman crossing her arms forming an X. This ad was 𝗥𝗘𝗝𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗘𝗗. These two examples are a few of many that show how women's health companies and organizations are being discriminated against due to big tech platforms ad policies. Closing the women's health gap could add a trillion dollars to the economy annually, but to achieve this we need big tech platforms to have fair ad practices. Tune in next Friday when we'll share a new example of censorship! CensHERship, Janne Elvelid #SocialMediaMarketing #Investing #Censorship
