The UK's leading training provider of officers for the Merchant Navy
About us
PRODUCING THE NEXT GENERATION OF MERCHANT NAVY OFFICERS In 1986 Clyde Marine Training was formed with the sole aim of regenerating the training of Merchant Navy Officers. With 3 staff members and 6 Cadets we began the journey of Cadet Management. Through continuous improvement of our systems and processes we have since helped thousands of Cadets achieve their goal of becoming Merchant Navy Officers, with many of our Cadets going on to achieve long and distinguished careers. We are proud to be trusted by our partner companies to look after over 50% of the annual UK Cadet intake, working side-by-side with world renowned Nautical Colleges. This is all made possible by our dedicated team looking after the complex and varied requirements within our Glasgow and Southampton bases. It all begins for us by raising awareness of the Maritime Industry through school visits and careers events, targeting all age groups from primary level. Our influence extends to all levels of the industry through our close working relationships with industry bodies including the MNTB, MCA and UK Chamber of Shipping. Our work doesn’t end with our Cadets, with the provision and management of Ratings forming an important part of our strategy. We also provide a range of other services through our sister companies, ranging from medicals, safety training and uniforms to visa processing and travel. All of this allows us to maintain our position as the number one training provider for the Merchant Navy.

The annual Festival of Remembrance took place at The Royal Albert Hall this week, and representing both Clyde Marine Training and Warsash Maritime School was Phase Three Deck Cadet Sam Ellison (sponsored by Sentinel Marine). Sam and five other Warsash cadets took part in the civilian uniformed muster, and offered the following feedback on the experience: "I was honoured to receive this opportunity to represent the Merchant Navy at this years Festival of Remembrance, as well as the proceeding few days which involved marching next to Guards and napping next to Gurkhas. My eternal thanks to all involved and to those we won’t forget.” #LestWeForget
