Last week, I had the privilege of speaking at an event celebrating the innovation and impact of UK-based companies at the very first UKII Innovation Sessions. Presenting Levidian’s vision and milestones among such an inspiring line-up of pioneers in clean technology and sustainable solutions was a proud moment. It’s incredibly motivating to be part of this dynamic community, all dedicated to shaping a greener, more resilient future. One day to go! Tomorrow evening sees the launch of the UKII Innovation Sessions with our first event - hosted in London by the wonderful team at Julius Baer, and with a welcome from our brilliant UKII platform sponsor Verizon Business. Over 80 people in the room – from across 20+ industries and across the country. A big day for aspiring young astronauts across the UK! A year ago I introduced RM Education and SaxaVord Spaceport UK to each other, for a trial project collaboration at the Future Lab expo I curate at Goodwood Festival of Speed. Fast-forward to TODAY and they have just launched a very special online platform, Starflight Academy 2.0. It's a 4-week virtual space learning programme for UK schools exploring future jobs in space - led by the ever-inspiring astronaut teacher Mike Mongo. It’s really exciting to consider the huge potential of new digital content experiences like this, to inspire the next generation to pursue careers in the fast-evolving UK space industry. It’s SO important to nurture future talent and equip them with the skills and vision to push UK industry to new horizons. And even more exciting as last week also saw the official opening ceremony for SaxaVord Spaceport UK which has become the UK's first, and Europe's leading, vertical-launch space port. Such incredible work being pioneered up on Unst in the Shetland Islands by Debbie Strang and all the team! To celebrate all this, I thought I would dig back into the UK space education of yesteryear, and what better than these Ladybird books from the 1960s.
