👏 "A first for the United States Department of Defense (DoD)" Congratulations to Cannon Air Force Base for hosting a two-day "Water Resilience Analysis Workshop" to identify best practices for infrastructure #resilience and community #partnerships. The Bottom Line. 💬“The Ogallala Aquifer is a finite source of water. When it is gone, it’s gone" said Dr. Ladona Clayton, Executive Director of Ogallala Land & Water Conservancy. Value of Workshops. Converge Strategies, LLC supported MIT Lincoln Laboratory in executing a tabletop exercise and solutions workshop to take a comprehensive look at the future of water sustainability, identify #waterresilience gaps, and evaluate the risks to critical missions at Cannon AFB and in the local community. ⏩ What’s Next. The workshop will inform a final report that documents gaps and mitigation options to be shared across the United States Department of the Air Force and United States Department of Defense more broadly. ✉️ Message Meredith Pringle to learn more about this work and the value of workshops. The Forecast. Grid Strategies LLC's NEW "Strategic Industries Surging: Driving US Power Demand" report predicts that our nationwide electric demand will increase by 15.8% in just 5️⃣ years. What Does That Mean? Compared to the <1️⃣% per year growth of the past two decades, this unprecedented 3️⃣% growth requires 6️⃣times the planning and construction of new #generation and #transmission capacity. What’s Needed. Grid Strategies’ report points to large-scale transmission investment as the lowest-cost method to meet this demand, saving tens of billions of dollars to effectively match 2029’s forecasted 128 GW electricity demand. 🤝Thank you to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Solar Energy Technologies Office (SETO) for featuring Jonathon Monken as a #resilience speaker during the 2024 #Solar and Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) Community #Energy #Resilience Workshop. What's Clear. Solar and other #DERs are essential tools for securing community and #energyresilience. Real World Example. The Together New Orleans Community Lighthouse Project is changing the game on #resilience with their trailblazer for solar and #energystorage work. Dig in Deeper. Most solar panels are made to withstand winds of 140 MPH. #Microgrids and #solarislanding are solutions for #energyresilience. ✉ Message Jonathon Monken to continue the conversation on how to strengthen the #energyresilience posture of your community.
