The California Education Policy Fellowship Program (CA EPFP) welcomes an interdisciplinary group for its 2024-25 cohort. Now in its ninth year, this cohort includes 20 leaders from California’s K-12 and higher education sectors, policymaking, research, and education-focused nonprofits. CA EPFP is a well established national program sponsored by the Institute for Educational Leadership (IEL) in Washington, D.C., which is part of a national network of more than 300 Fellows at state-based sites throughout the country. "Now, more than ever, it's essential that we create spaces for education professionals to learn from one another about how policy is made and implemented, and to collaborate across segments and geography. I'm looking forward to meeting and learning from the wonderfully-talented folks who make up this year's cohort.” says Leonor Ehling, Executive Director of the Center for California Studies. The ten-month program will be facilitated by CA EPFP alum Marcela R., Ph.D., who was a member of the 2019 cohort and currently serves as co-director. Participants will engage and interact with education leaders within California and across the country, exploring systemic barriers to student success, while working on projects designed to enhance equitable policy development and implementation. #DYK that 1 in 8 college students in California is juggling their studies while caring for a dependent? Yet, these students are often overlooked due to gaps in data on their demographics, experiences, and outcomes. This #StudentParentMonth, The California Alliance for Student Parent Success, administered by California Competes and EdTrust-West, is bridging that gap with two new reports: “Juggling Roles and Achieving Goals: The California Student Parents Almanac”: A deep dive into the demographics, academic experiences, and financial needs of student parents. https://lnkd.in/g7YTRfwg “Making the Invisible Visible: Taking Stock of How the California State University Collects and Uses Data About Parenting Students”: A critical review of CSU’s data practices with recommendations for improvement. https://lnkd.in/gk8t6qSB 📅 Look out for the webinar on October 1, 11am-12pm PT to explore the report findings and discuss actionable steps to improve data practices and use for student parent success. https://lnkd.in/grdJ_Qf6
