We make meat from plants.

About us

We're transforming the global food system by creating better ways to make meat, dairy and fish without using animals -- delicious, good for people, and good for the planet. Our approach: understand what people love about meat, dairy, and fish, and then explore the plant world for specific ingredients that recreate those experiences. In 2016, we launched the Impossible™ Burger: meat made from plants, for people who love to eat meat. Founded in 2011 by Pat Brown MD, PhD (Stanford Professor Emeritus) and backed by top-tier VCs and visionaries, we’re looking for the very best scientists, engineers, food developers, and business professionals in the world to join our creative, diverse, multi-talented and mission-driven team. We’re here to secure a sustainable future (and have fun while doing it). Come work with us to change the course of history.

Food is an often overlooked solution to the climate crisis. That’s why we’ve worked to ensure food is not just on the agenda, but a meaningful part of the dialogues taking place at COP29 — the world’s biggest climate conference. We’re thrilled to support the important climate action conversations taking place in the all-new Action On Food Hub, uniting the entire food systems community for the first time in one pavilion. Thank you to our partners at ProVeg International for organizing the Hub and championing these important food systems conversations. 🌎

Today marks the start of the UN Climate Change Conference (#COP29). 🌍 This year, we are part of the Action On Food Hub which unites all voices within the food system community, including the food industry. Together, we are working towards the main goal of more sustainable, resilient food systems. We couldn’t do this work without strong partners like Impossible Foods. Together, we will bridge the gap between the negotiations and civil society to ensure policymakers know the crucial role plant-rich diets can play in mitigating the climate crisis. We’ll be in the Blue Zone throughout COP29, putting food centre stage during these crucial negotiations. Follow our updates at COP29 over the next two weeks as we advocate for food system transformation on a global scale! #ActionOnFood #ProVeg #FoodSystems
