It’s National Adoption Month! At Little City, we’re proud to celebrate the dedicated individuals who make a lasting difference in the lives of children and families. Da’Sia Blackmon, Permanency Specialist, shares what her role means to her: “Permanency has been the most rewarding experience. Not only have I had the privilege of helping families achieve permanency, but I’ve also found a role that feels like home to me. I love receiving emails about subsidy approvals because it means I’ve played a part in brightening a child’s day with that exciting news. Being a part of Little City’s permanency team is truly fulfilling, and I’m excited to continue serving the youth in our care.”

November is National Adoption Month, a time to celebrate stories of resilience and family connections like Joey’s. Joey spent nine years in foster care, facing challenges in multiple placements due to the trauma he endured. Throughout his journey, our dedicated case management and permanency teams worked tirelessly to support him. Eventually, Joey’s grandmother, a steadfast advocate, made it her mission to provide him with a permanent home. She worked diligently to improve her health, ensuring Joey received the services and support he needed. With the agency’s assistance, she gained guardianship, allowing Joey to leave foster care and find stability with family.

Employee Development Services in the Community volunteers step up the first Friday of each month to support the The Salvation Army USA Breakfast with Baby program! Each month, they pack bags of 50 diapers to help families in need. From carrying boxes to the work area to counting and sorting diapers by size, their dedication is making a real difference. We’re incredibly proud of their commitment and contributions to the community!
