Aug 17 is World Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day 💜 Pancreatic cancer often progresses without noticeable symptoms, and by the time signs appear, the cancer has usually spread. The survival rate for distant-stage pancreatic cancer is just 3%. Detecting pancreatic cancer early is crucial. It opens the door to more treatment options and offers a much higher chance of survival 💪 🔗 Learn more about Pancreatic cancer: Cancer.net 🔗Learn more about Geneseeq’s solutions for Pancreatic cancer: https://lnkd.in/gVfNh6u2 🔗Learn more about Geneseeq’s solutions for early cancer detection: https://lnkd.in/gM_bJVGK #NGS #oncology #precisionmedicine #targetedtherapy #Geneseeq #Pancreatic #cancer

Just a quick update on Pancreatic Cancer outlook in This year, more than 800 British Columbians will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Its projected that only 10 per cent (or 80 of those people diagnosed) will live five years. Pancreatic cancer is difficult to detect at an early stage and is often resistant to treatment. Although it is the tenth most common cancer in Canada, it is the fourth leading cause of cancer death. Unless more effective treatment strategies are found, pancreatic cancer in Canada is projected to become the second leading cause of cancer death by 2030.

According to the American Cancer Society, lung cancer (both small cell and non-small cell) is the second most common cancer in both men and women in the United States (not counting skin cancer). The most effective way to find lung cancer at its earliest stage is with a low-dose CT lung cancer screening. A low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) screening for lung cancer is a specialized test that is used to find lung cancer before it is symptomatic and before it has spread. Talk to your doctor to see if a LDCT is right for you! https://lnkd.in/gjusQFJ2

🤔❓ What do we really know about Small Cell Lung Cancer? Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is a less common type of cancer, but its impact is not small. Despite its lower prevalence, its aggressive and complex nature makes it one of the biggest challenges in lung cancer treatment. 🔬 At #PharmaMar, we have been researching this type of cancer for over 10 years. Our goal is to develop innovative treatments that help improve the quality of life of people affected by SCLC. We are aware that, although this cancer is less widely known 🤫, its impact on patients is far-reaching, which is why we continue researching to offer solutions. Every type of cancer deserves attention, and at PharmaMar, we continue to work to make progress in treating all of them.🤝 #LungCancerAwarenessMonth

Today marks Ovarian Cancer Awareness Day. Ovarian cancer is the sixth most common cancer in women. It develops when abnormal cells in the ovaries start to grow and divide, eventually growing into a tumour. If ovarian cancer isn't treated, cancer cells can gradually grow into the surrounding tissues and may spread to other areas of the body. However, ovarian cancer can be treated successfully, especially if diagnosed early. Our Integrated Cancer Campus provides expert-led treatment for ovarian cancer. August 1st is Lung Cancer Awareness Day. Did you know that 1 in 16 people will be diagnosed with lung cancer in their lifetime and that 5-year survival is 10 times higher for people diagnosed with localized versus metastatic disease? Early detection is a critical tool to help combat the devastating impact of this disease. At Mercy, we are proud to be developing the Mercy Halo Lung Cancer assay; a high performance, blood-based test designed to detect lung cancer at its earliest stages, when it’s most treatable. METASTATIC CANCER Metastatic cancer refers to cancer that has spread beyond the point of origin to other distant areas of the body. Metastasis is a word used to describe the spread of cancer. Unlike normal cells, cancer cells have the ability to grow outside of the place in your body where. they originated. When this happens, it's called metastatic cancer, advanced cancer or Stage IV cancer. The most common sites for cancers to metastasize include the lungs, liver, bones and brain. Other places include the adrenal gland, lymph nodes, skin and other organs. Some people will have minimal or no symptoms of metastatic cancer. In most cases, metastatic cancer is not curable. However, treatment can slow growth and ease many of the associated symptoms. #snsinstitutions #snsdesignthinking #snsdesignthinkers
