Older commercial buildings should fit into a special class of retrofit. They have all the quirks of the historic craft of multi-wythe brick construction that it shares with the historic residential buildings, except, with a twist. Now you have to bring them up to code for today. Residential part 9 buildings have a looser set of requirements, not so with commercial, and that’s the tricky part. It gets even more complicated when the trades are coming from the residential side of the industry… More on that.

AJC Group has submitted a Reserved Matters application to develop a 2.59-hectare site near Sturminster Newton into a sustainable community of 48 energy-efficient homes. The project, combining open-market and affordable housing, aims to address local needs, with construction set to begin in 2025. The homes will feature traditional designs inspired by the area’s architectural heritage. Simon McFarlane MRTPI, our Planning Director at AJC Group, said: “This part of Dorset has a significant shortfall in new housing, and projects like this are vital to ensure local people can remain in the place they call home.” Located 1.1km from Sturminster Newton, the site offers easy access to schools, shops, and transport links, forming part of AJC Group’s broader expansion across the Wessex region. Today’s a special day for #teamVantage as we celebrate the one-year anniversary of being crowned Master Builder of the Year! The prestigious accolade from the Federation of Master Builders (FMB) was awarded for our renovation of Old Heaton House for Elevate Property Group. It was a labour of love for us and our client and we’re hugely proud of the transformation. But being an award-winning team is about more than just one project… we apply the same focus to everything we build. In the last year, during which we’ve also scooped the Constructing Excellence Midlands’ award for Best Residential Project of the Year, we’ve often been asked what makes Vantage & Co stand out from the crowd. Of course, there’s lots of factors which contribute to success, but these are our top five! Keen to know what our supply chain and customers think is the most important? 1. Uncompromising Quality Craftsmanship You’d expect us to say this, but it’s true. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional quality in every project we undertake. Our team of skilled craftsmen and women are dedicated to their trades and we love working with them. 2. Innovative Approach to Construction This is baked in from the start. We want to be able to offer solutions to clients that improve efficiency, sustainability, and overall project outcomes. 3. Exceptional Client Relationships This list is not in priority order! Successful projects are built on strong relationships. 4. Commitment to Sustainability This is a no-brainer. We’re always looking to find ways to reduce our environmental impact while creating energy-efficient and eco-friendly buildings that stand the test of time. 5. Investing in our Team Our people are our greatest asset. And our success is built on the skills and dedication of our team. Thanks to everyone who has supported us since we clinched this award. (And if you’d like to know more, there’s a link to the project in the comments. 👇)

Another great achievement for #collinsrolston in the housing sector as we have secured a place to provide architectural services for social and affordable residential developments in a Regional Framework Agreement in the Republic of Ireland. The four-year-long Regional Framework will deliver around 1,156 units in the counties of Sligo, Mayo, Roscommon, Leitrim, Donegal and Galway. The Framework is part of the Accelerated Delivery of Housing (ADP) program and promotes the adoption of Modern Methods of Construction. MMC or ‘smart construction’, is a faster way of delivering new buildings by maximising the efficiency of material and human resources. The project is funded by the Housing for All Strategy. “We are delighted to be part of yet another coveted program and contribute to a huge positive step towards creating a more sustainable and affordable housing market in Ireland,” commented Collins Rolston MD Mark Collins. #collinsrolston #galwaycitycouncil#galwaycountycouncil#architecturalframework #architecture #housingproject #housinginireland #sligocountycouncil #roscommoncountycouncil #leitrimcountycouncil #donegalcountycouncil #residentialdevelopments

#Towers to be Introduced to Longo's Site at 7 and Woodbine in #Markham The smaller of the two adjacent proposals is for 3085 Highway 7 in #Markham’s Brown's Corners area, introducing four towers ranging from 30 to 36 storeys. Designed by Arcadis for Longo's, the project would transform a site currently housing a Longo's supermarket. Located on the south side of Highway 7, east of Woodbine Avenue, the land is within the Major Transit Station Areas of the Woodbine and Montgomery stops of York Region Transit's VIVA bus rapid transit line along Highway 7. The proposal abuts a surrounding redevelopment proposal for #Markham Woodside. Gatzios Planning + Development Consultants has submitted Official Plan and Zoning By-law Amendment applications to the City of Markham on behalf of the developer. The proposal entails towers with heights ranging from 103.63m to 120.87m, with a total of 1,711 #residential units. Three would be positioned atop a U-shaped #podium of 1 to 8 storeys, framing the western and northern edges of the site. The tallest #tower would rise from an 8-storey podium along the southern boundary.
