Cleanliness is not just a chore, it’s a commitment to a healthier future. Yesterday marked the start of the Swachhta Hi Sewa Campaign 2024, and the Ministry of Textiles has jumped right in. With Union Minister Shri Giriraj Singh participating in a Shramdaan at Simaria, Bihar, and planting trees for the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, this initiative is more than just picking up a broom—it's about building sustainable habits. So, what’s the real challenge here? It’s easy to organize an event, but how do we embed the 'idea' of cleanliness into our everyday lives? Here's what we’re learning from Swachhta Hi Sewa: 1. Consistency is Key: Whether in offices or homes, daily efforts matter. Like the Textiles Ministry's staff taking the Swachhta pledge, we can all set small, regular goals to make a long-term impact. 2. Leverage Social Media: With campaigns being amplified online, digital platforms play a huge role in spreading awareness. But it’s not just about posts, it's about inspiring action. 3. Collective Effort Yields Results: Standalone efforts are great, but imagine the difference when entire organizations come together. When every person contributes, the effects multiply exponentially. Let’s be real, building a cleaner future isn’t a one-day event, it’s an ongoing journey. So, why not start today with a small step? As they say, the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second-best time is NOW. #SwachhtaHiSeva2024 #CleanIndia #SustainableFuture #TextileIndustry #GreenInitiatives #EkPedMaaKeNaam

This video captures one of the experiences that has stuck with me most from half a year of backpacking around Asia. My partner and I were in a taxi just outside Ahmedabad, a city in India. We came around the corner and were immediately struck by the sight and smell of this enormous trash heap, bellowing toxic fumes across the surrounding area. My eyes widened further when I realised dozens of people were on the heap, sorting waste and likely trying to make a living from the rubbish. Travelling in India in general is a crash course in culture shock and Western priveledge, and while it’s not uncommon to see large amounts of rubbish in public, this moment in particular really shook me. It served as a reminder to me that the climate crisis is growing, knows no borders, and doesn’t distinguish based on race, ethnicity, or religion. It affects us ALL. Sadly, this moment also showed me that those on the frontline of this fight are often the least supported and empowered to address the issue. That’s why I’m super excited to be joining the team at WasteAid as an External Engagement Officer. WasteAid works with communities and policy makers in low and middle-income countries to implement waste management and recycling programmes. Their work improves the livelihoods of some of the poorest and most marginalised, supports grassroots entrepreneurs and promotes circular economy innovation contributing to a cleaner and healthier future for all. #climatechange #circulareconomy #wasteaid #wastemanagement

The problem of Pollution by burning Parali is a major concern as when it is burnt it causes a massive amount of #harmful gases which can bring AQI to 900 or sometimes immeasurable over this. Along with this problem of menstruation in women is also a major concern as many lower groups are unable to afford proper #menstrual care which causes them a hazardous disease. Here comes Nariksha Pads Private Limited founded by Meghna Rathore, where they care for both farmers and women. They built a low-cost #affordable, #ultraabsorbent, #natural, #biodegradable sanitary pad for women by utilizing parali waste as a raw material. “TiE Rajasthan has greatly helped and supported in providing Networking opportunities to acquire #customers and reach to market effectively. With mentors like Dr. Sheenu Jhawar and Smriti Nagar Tripathi, who have handhold Nariksha from building #entrepreneurial skills to #gotomarket strategy and with their continued immersive support and recognition, we are determined to build an ecosystem of environmental sustainability products and to support the economy,”says Meghna. You don't need a big city to make a big impact on the environment. Living in a tier 2 city means even small steps towards sustainability can face unique challenges. That's why the work of people like @preetiMShah from @balafoundation and @radhikapriyank.mishra from SparkLiv is so inspiring. Preeti M. Shah is empowering school kids with environmental education and doing it from last 22 yrs!! and @radhikapriyank.mishra is collecting and transforming plastic waste into upcycled products. These are the kinds of efforts that turn challenges into change. and you know where I met them? at Lucknow Farmers Market . A one stop solution for all your sustainable needs. Thanks Jyotsna Kaur Habibullah and team for making it happen under one roof. Uniting all Sustainable businesses and entrepreneurs together.🌟💚 If you're from a #tier2 city and are driving environmental change, we'd love to hear your story.
