In a follow-up to my recent post about starting a new role, I’m sharing a different kind of update. Just 11 days into the job, I was made redundant. After a challenging few days to reflect on what has transpired, I feel it’s important to highlight the need for better planning when hiring new candidates. Leaders must understand that hiring decisions should be made with thoughtful consideration and long-term vision, not just as a reaction to immediate needs. They must recognize that their decisions affect more than just the bottom line — they impact real lives and careers. Cost-cutting and budgeting are realities, but they need to be balanced with careful planning and accountability. When a company’s values include “taking accountability,” that should be reflected in how they support new hires and honor their commitments. Though this setback wasn’t easy, I’m no stranger to navigating challenges. With over 18 years of experience in strategic partnerships and business development, I’ve built resilience and a results-oriented approach that has helped me thrive through change and uncertainty. I’m ready to bring that resilience and expertise to a new opportunity with a team that values growth, integrity, and long-term success. If you know of any opportunities or would like to connect, I’d love to discuss how we can create a meaningful impact together. #LeadershipMatters #Planning #Accountability #Resilience #OpenToNewRoles #Partnerships #CareerGrowth #BusinessDevelopment

Today marks 1-year at Parry Labs and I think about how this door opened after my own experience from a mass layoff in early 2023. Seeing this trend continue, my encouragement to both individuals and employers is to embrace the opportunity for taking chances when possible! For those seeking a new opportunity, the waiting game can be lengthy and frustrating, but the right position will eventually come. Consider taking a leap by exploring possibilities beyond your comfort zone or embracing more responsibility than you're used to. It may even be pursuing dreams once deemed out of reach. I've witnessed several friends pivot their careers recently and now embarking on new, exciting pursuits. Employers, embrace the opportunity to consider quality candidates who might not perfectly align with every line of the job description but possess intangible skills and significant potential that could greatly benefit your organization. The best talent can be overlooked, especially in the current market with so many individuals readily available. Navigating an unfamiliar industry, my self-confidence drove me to quickly adapt. Additionally, the invaluable support from a manager who consistently encourages and aids in my processes has contributed to significant professional growth over the past year. Collaborating with some of the best industry leaders, I've assisted many talented individuals in finding their place within our company. I am grateful to assist in our company's expansion while having the opportunity to integrate my passion for helping others into my work. Your next great opportunity or employee might be just around the corner! #TeamParry #talentacquisition

I keep seeing the same roles being re-posted and left vacant for months. If someone has the right attitude, the necessary skills, and fits well with the team, hire them. There are so many talented individuals still searching for jobs, yet. Think back—who took a chance on you? Maybe it's time you took a chance on someone. #Hiring #Recruitment #TalentAcquisition #Leadership

Back when I had a staffing and recruiting firm, I had a woman working for me as a Staffing Supervisor. The job required meticulous attention to detail, crossing all the T’s and dotting the I’s. However, she was probably the most scattered person I had ever worked with. She struggled with details and wasn’t performing well in the role I hired her for. On the other hand, she had an incredible ability to walk into a room of 50 strangers and leave with 30 new best friends. She relished talking to angry, unhappy clients and had a natural talent for relationship-building. But in her current role, she was ineffective, so I had to let her go. When I did, I told her that while she was incredibly talented in certain ways, she didn’t have the skills or desire to succeed in the role I needed her to fill. However, I was confident that if she found a role better suited to her talents, she’d be a superstar. While she wasn’t thrilled about being fired, she eventually found a sales role in another organization and found amazing success there. When we keep underperformers around out of misplaced loyalty, we’re hurting ourselves, our company, and them. After all, everyone can be a superstar—somewhere. What are you doing to better understand the talents of your team members to ensure they’re in the right role, whether inside or outside your organization? #Leadership #TalentManagement #EmployeeEngagement #TeamDevelopment #BusinessGrowth #WorkplaceCulture #LeadershipDevelopment #RightPeopleRightRoles #OrganizationalSuccess #CareerGrowth
