Reflecting on Publisherspeak US 2024 & Peer Review Week!
In this edition of Kaleidoscope, we are excited to share the highlights from Publisherspeak US 2024 and our reflections on Peer Review Week.
🚀 Key themes that shaped the conversation at Publisherspeak US 2024!
Publisherspeak US 2024 started with insightful discussions on the evolving landscape of scholarly publishing. The event began with a welcome address from our chair, Louise Russell, followed by a session on agile publishing led by our CEO, Ravi Venkataramani . Carlos Álvarez-Aranyos , our keynote speaker, challenged us to rethink the role of scholarship in the emerging information paradigm, encouraging everyone to consider the future of publishing in the next 10-20 years.
One of the highlights of the day was an interactive workshop led by Ranieka Weston, PCC, SHRM-SCP , who helped us explore the limiting beliefs that hold us back. The BEAN (Behaviour Enablers, Artifacts, and Nudges) framework, which many found to be a powerful tool for personal and professional growth, was a key takeaway from her session.
We also introduced the Kriyadocs Ace of Change card game, an engaging activity that sparked collaboration and creative problem-solving, energizing participants for the next sessions.
Breakout sessions chaired by industry leaders Audra E. Cox , John W. Warren , Damita S. , and Katherine Lavallee-Sharma focused on addressing core challenges in scholarly publishing. The delegates explored topics such as creating efficient workflows, tackling accessibility issues, fostering intrapreneurship within organizations and supporting early career professionals.
