"Why is there a male co-founder of a period care company (Femmé Organic)?"
It’s a question I hear a lot. For me, it all comes back to family. I grew up with four incredible sisters and a single mum, surrounded by strong women who shaped my world.
From an early age, I saw the challenges they faced, especially around something as natural as periods. There was always this stigma, this idea that periods were something to be hidden or not spoken about - And that just never made sense to me.
Co-founding Femmé Organic with my sister, Anabelle Burns, wasn’t just about starting a business. It was about creating change. We wanted to break the silence, to create a space where periods could be talked about openly, without shame, and where women had access to safe, sustainable products that cared for both their bodies and the planet.
For me, this is personal. It’s about honouring the women who raised me and building something that makes their lives - and the lives of all menstruators - better. I’m incredibly proud of the impact we’re making and the conversations we’re starting.
