Bottom up social innovation group. We create commons in EU cultural external relations policy.
About us
Launched in 2018, culture Solutions is an independent ✋ not-for-profit 🌱 bottom-up ⬆️ social innovation group 💡 contributing to the excellence of EU 🇪🇺 #InternationalCulturalRelations 🤝🌍 We do this through the opening of creative trust-building spaces, the production of commons, and the brokerage of know-how. At the crossroads of these challenges, the work of culture Solutions is focused on 5 priority themes: - Cultural action & legitimacy; - Digital and Internet governance; - Cultural relations; - Cultural diplomacy; - Intercultural coexistence & language skills. We follow a specific Theory of Change. Our Composing Trust 2019/2020 research report aims to become a reference knowledge resource on EU international cultural relations, inform the 2019 European Parliament and Commission, sketch out a working agenda for culture Solutions in the years to come, and engage with all those caring for a common agenda on EU international cultural relations. 🌍 culture Solutions is working towards enhancing the role of culture in the EU's external relations and providing a better understanding of international cultural relations in general. 🇪🇺✨ Our multicultural network of professionals connects with artists and cultural professionals from different parts of the world, hearing their voices and sharing their views to understand the realities and needs, as they relate to International Cultural Relations. We have consistently made efforts to draw attention to the weight - political, financial, and symbolic - of culture in International Relations, and our ‘Composing Trust research report 2019/2020’ featured some observations that we believe are now more relevant than ever! 💪 “We live in a world where social media are used to amplify cultural confrontation. At the same time, climate change and threats against the planet by humanity as a whole have opened a new phase in history. People and societies have never been so interconnected due to globalisation, migration flows, and communications technology.” “Yet this does not mean that societies are culturally converging everywhere. On the contrary, cultural differences might actually deepen in certain cases.” “The need for intercultural sensitivity and trust-building among people and communities seems to be at a peak.” “The EU integration project is facing resistance from europhobic and eurosceptic forces usually on the basis of identity, cultural and social arguments. All this has an impact on the ways Europeans perceive their place in the world and how they are perceived. Some even say Europeans need new myths to renew their self-identification.” “The ways Europeans are dealing with artistic creation, creativity and cultural diversity will determine the level of trust they will build among themselves on the continent and with the rest of the world.” See the full report on our website💫 > https://lnkd.in/dyuxUuzi Our team remains committed to contributing to these important discussions with more insights and perspectives not only on EU policy-making, but also from voices outside the EU. #Culture #InternationalRelations #InternationalCulturalRelations #InternationalCulture #CulturalDiplomacy #EuropeanUnion #ExternalRelations #CulturalBridges #CreativeConnections

Africa-Europe Foundation hosted the second plenary meeting of the Africa-Europe Action Research Partnership, bringing together representatives from each consortia organisation leading the five commissioned strategic research projects, AEF external partners with a keen interest in knowledge and evidence including The African Climate Foundation, The ONE Campaign, European Commission, EU External Action Service, European Investment Bank (EIB), Wellcome Trust, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, European Climate Foundation, AEF Senior Fellows and Advisors, and AEF technical managers. The strategic objective of the meeting was to identify pathways for enhanced impact during a leadership change and the ongoing policy and political cycles in Africa and Europe, as well as to note important international milestones for leveraging high-quality knowledge products with clear policy implications. The meeting aligning with the #FutureAfricaEurope High-Level Forum and the bi-annual High-Level Group meeting featured an open, action-oriented workshop designed to bridge silos in research, inform AEF’s strategic milestones, and generate tangible recommendations for the commissioned projects. Today we celebrate World Television Day! 🌍📺 As per the United Nations, this day is "not so much a celebration of the tool, but rather the philosophy which it represents. Television represents a symbol for communication and globalisation in the contemporary world." 🤝 As TV channels such as the EU’s arte TV have the power to bridge cultures, spark dialogue, and bring the world closer together, what will you watch today?💭 #WorldTelevisionDay #UnitedNations #Culture #InternationalRelations #InternationalCulturalRelations

ArtXChange is a project that took place across the African and European continents 🌍, involving young artists from Kenya 🇰🇪, Somalia 🇸🇴, Italy 🇮🇹 and Sweden 🇸🇪 from 2019 to 2022. Listen to their views and experiences in Culture Solutions' latest podcast from our series (Re)generating trust on youth and culture. 🎙️ The project drew from the Abidjan Declaration of the 4th Africa-Europe Youth summit calling "on AU and EU Member States to support young people working in creative industries, through local structures, investment in training, leadership, management, production and promotion of culture for young people" and materialised thanks to the AU-EU Youth Cooperation Hub. #CulturalRelations #InternationalRelations #CulturalDiversity #ExternalCulturalAction #AU #EU #artxchange

Today, we honour the efforts against Illicit Trafficking in Cultural Property 🏺. The theft and illegitimate trade of cultural artefacts rob communities of their history, heritage and cultural treasures. Marking this day by helping to spread awareness about these unethical practices is a small step towards combating them. 🗿 The art world, governments, and each of us as individuals have a role to play in protecting tangible cultural heritage 🌍 through mutual respect and an ethical approach towards cultural objects. #CulturalRelations #CulturalProperty #CulturalDiplomacy #IllicitTrafficking #InternationalCulturalRelations #CulturalDiplomacy #Culture
