‘Article 370’ actress Yami Gautam and her husband Aditya Dhar recently became proud parents of a baby boy named Vedavid. Did you know that this name has its origins in the Hindu pantheon. This unique name means “a person who has knowledge of the Vedas.” It is also another name for major deities such as Lord Vishnu, Lord Ram and Lord Shiva.
However, Gautam and Dhar are not the first parents to come up with a unique name for their child.
Isha Ambani and her husband Anand Piramal named their daughter Aadiya. ‘Aadiya’ is also one of the names of Lord Shiva. Aadiya and her brother Krishna on November 19, 2022.
Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt welcomed their first child, a daughter in November 2022. She was named Raha. The name is an abbreviation of both of their names. However, the name is has various other meanings. In an Instagram post, the ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ actress wrote, “‘In Swahili she is Joy, In Sanskrit, Raha is a clan, In Bangla – rest, comfort, relief, in Arabic peace’ Alia wrote. ‘It also means happiness, freedom & bliss.”

According to a Times Of India report, the name Akaay is derived from the Sanksrit word ‘Aikya’ which symbolises a single, supreme power and unity. Meanwhile Vamika, is another name for the Goddess Surga, who is seen as the manifestation of strength and the ultimate purveyor of justice in Hinduism. The term ‘Vama’ is linked to the left-handed aspect, representing artistic expression and intuitive abilities. Consequently, Vamika carries deep cultural and spiritual meaning, embodying nurturing, empowerment, and artistic talent within a single name.
‘Raaz’ actress Bipasha Basu welcomed her first-born, a daughter in 2022. She and her husband , TV star Karan Singh Grover named the kid Devi. ‘Devi’ is a name that denotes divinity. In Sanskrit, ‘devi’ means goddess.
Bollywood diva Sonam Kapoor and her entrepreneur husbanand Anand Ahuja became adoring parents to their son Vayu in 2022. In Sanskrit, ‘Vayu’ means the wind.
