According to a new study, in a recent study published in the journal, researchers in Portugal explored the anti-cancer potential of small RNAs (sRNAs) isolated from various mushroom species. Building on previous research that demonstrated the anti-cancer activity of sRNAs from Cantharellus cibarius (golden chanterelle), this study investigates the anti-cancer potential of sRNAs from Boletus edulis (porcini) and Agaricus bisporus (portobello). Additionally, the study evaluates whether the microRNAs from these mushrooms possess anti-cancer properties.
Another study found that psilocybin – a hallucinogenic chemical found in certain types of mushrooms of the genus Psilocybe, can reduce the risk of cancer and depression.
However, the health benefits of mushrooms do not end here.
