【#VetMasterClass 🩸 A Deep Dive into Coagulopathies in Dogs and Cats】 #bleeding disorders in cats and dogs are not uncommon 🤔; however, their diagnosis and treatment require a logical and systematic approach. VSH recently hosted a lecture titled ‘Diagnosing and Treating Coagulopathies in Dogs and Cats’🎙️, led by Dr Paula Valiente, our Specialist in Veterinary Internal Medicine for veterinarians in Hong Kong. Dr Paula provided attendees with an in-depth overview of the #clotting mechanism, explored the clinical signs of primary and secondary #haemostaticdisorders, and demonstrated how to use and interpret #diagnostictools 🔬. Despite the slight drizzle this past Sunday morning, more than 20 VSH Hong Kong associates partnered with associates from Mars Veterinary Health Asia Hong Kong and Mars Science & Diagnostics ANTECH Asia to participate in the Peak to Fong 2024 fundraising charity walk for Hong Kong Dog Rescue. 🐕🐾👟 Our team, along with their furry family members 🐶, had a great turnout to raise funds to support the over 600 dogs under HKDR's care, with everyone having a shared purpose of building a better world for pets. 【Leading the Way in Professional Exchange & Certification 🔗 September #VetMasterclass Recap】 September traditionally marks the start of the academic year 📚, and VSH made the most of every opportunity to drive veterinary education! Throughout the month, we organised and participated in key seminars and training sessions, enhancing expertise for both our team and the industry 🧑⚕️! 🎙️ In early September, our Ophthalmologist Dr Derek Chow and Dentist Dr Cedric Tutt were invited to speak at the 49th #WorldSmallAnimalVeterinaryAssociation (WSAVA) Congress in Suzhou. They shared specialised knowledge with veterinarians from over 10 regions, promoting pet health and welfare, for #ABetterWorldForPets 🏅 In line with our commitment to #CPR and #lifesupport, VSH arranged for 30 veterinarians, nurses, and technicians to participate in the #RECOVER CPR Basic and Advanced Life Support courses at the hospital in mid-September. All participants were certified or re-certified. By continually enhancing our team’s skills, we ensure we can provide comprehensive emergency care when pets need it the most! 【Knowledge Exchange Never Stops! #VetMasterclass August Highlights 🧑🏫】 This summer, the VSH team didn’t just continue to provide top-notch care for every patient, but also fostered knowledge exchange within the local veterinary community. Last month, the masterclasses we hosted attracted many veterinary professionals, creating a vibrant atmosphere! 🎙️ On the first day of the month, our Neurology Specialist, Dr Josep Brocal, shared with family veterinarians about #caninespinalcorddiseases, using real case videos to help with diagnosis. 🎙️ In the third week, two of our specialist vets gave back-to-back talks: Oncology Specialist, Dr Andrea Mosca, discussed the diagnosis and treatment of #histiocyticdiseases, emphasising the importance of accurate information for prognosis and treatment. 🎙️ Dentistry Specialist, Dr Cedric Tutt, introduced the basics of #animaloralanddentalstructures to a group of veterinary nurses, teaching them to identify common dental diseases in pets and basic dental techniques. 🎙️ At month’s end, our Veterinary Anaesthesia Specialist, Dr Hiroki Sano, spoke at the #InternationalVeterinaryNursingConference on methods to ensure #anaesthesia safety, attracting over 100 veterinary nurses. VSH is excited to welcome Dr Ferran Valls Sanchez, who is full of passion for life and pet care. He officially join our team on 21st August as our new Internal Medicine Specialist ✨. 📔 Dr Ferran graduated from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), Spain, and completed internships at Anicura Ars Veterinaria and Animal Health Trust, where he developed his passion for Internal Medicine. He completed his residency at Dick White Referrals in the UK and became a diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. After two years with the senior clinician team and serving as the internship director, he became the head of service. Additionally, he has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and is an Associate Professor at UAB. 🛣️ In recent years, Dr Ferran has embarked on a new professional journey by founding a mobile consulting company specialising in internal medicine consultations, treatments, and continuous education. He is a strong advocate for mental health and is dedicated to improving the work environment in veterinary medicine. He is also an ambassador for the OHANA charity, promoting animal welfare tirelessly. 🎲 Despite his extensive academic and professional background, Dr Ferran has diverse interests.
