The CII Foundation hosted the Tribal Entrepreneurship Summit in Ranchi on 10 January 2025, celebrating the economic and cultural contributions of tribal communities while promoting entrepreneurial growth. The summit, themed 'Heritage: Horizons: Tribal Innovators Forum', brought together tribal youth, women entrepreneurs, and industry leaders to discuss strategies for sustainable growth, access to capital, and value addition within tribal communities. Shri Jitendra Kumar Singh, IAS, Secretary, Department of Industries, Government of Jharkhand lauded CII’s initiative for successfully completing six editions of Tribal Entrepreneurship Summit aimed at supporting and encouraging tribal entrepreneurship. He emphasized that social and economic structural changes take time and shared that the government is in the process of drafting a policy for small and cottage industries which is expected to be launched in 2025. Additionally, the government is working on a Procurement Policy focused on uplifting the weaker sections of society. The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries, who collectively emphasized the need for inclusive growth, the integration of traditional skills with modern opportunities, and the importance of empowering tribal entrepreneurs through supportive government policies. With 110 participants, the summit showcased the creativity and resilience of young tribal innovators and women entrepreneurs. It also highlighted the critical role of collaboration between industries, government, and entrepreneurs in unlocking new economic opportunities. 🌟 We are proud to announce the launch of the 'Her Skill, Her Future' initiative on January 10, 2025, in New Delhi!  This collaborative effort by the CII Foundation, The Loomba Foundation, and the Women's Collective Forum aims to empower 1,00,000 widows by equipping them with the skills, resources, and opportunities needed to build sustainable livelihoods and secure brighter futures.  The event witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Ms. Cherie Blair, CBE, KC, Founder of the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women; Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani, Vice President of The Loomba Foundation; Lord Raj Loomba, Founder and Chairman Trustee of The Loomba Foundation; and Mr. Sunil Kant Munjal, Past President, CII, Chairman, Hero Enterprise, and Co-Chairman, Leadership Pipeline Initiative, among others.    The program’s launch was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the CII Foundation and The Loomba Foundation, symbolizing a shared commitment to creating impactful, sustainable change. The CII Foundation, in partnership with Blue Star Limited, continues its efforts to transform the Anganwadi Centres in Andhra Pradesh, enhancing the quality of early childhood education and care (ECCE) provided through these centres. On January 6, the newly renovated Anganwadi Centres in Tada, Andhra Pradesh, were inaugurated, marking a significant step forward under the Anganwadi Strengthening Program. The Centres, redesigned using the BaLA (Building as Learning Aid) concept as per NEP 2020, have been transformed into vibrant, child-friendly, and safe learning spaces. The event was graced by Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) officials, including Ms. Sharada, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Sullurupeta, supervisors, and Anganwadi Workers, along with the Blue Star team led by Mr. Stalin and Ms. Deepti, Mr. Chinna Huseni from CII Foundation, as well as local leaders and community members. Additionally, Teaching Learning Materials (TLM) were distributed to further support the Anganwadi workers in initiating the play-way technique of teaching, thus enabling holistic development in children. Our grassroots women leaders from the CII Foundation Empowering Champions of Change Program—supported by Apraava Energy and implemented with Seven Sisters Development Assistance (SeSTA) as the field partner—continued their enriching learning journey in Ujani Majuli Block, covering the Phuloni and Jengraimukh areas on January 5th and 6th. The leaders engaged with Pragati, Pokhu, Krishi, and Techno Sakhis to deepen their understanding of digital literacy and livelihood interventions. They also had one-on-one interactions for cross-learning. Mitali, a SeSTA beneficiary, and Kaku Kalita, a Pragati Sakhi, inspired participants by sharing their entrepreneurial journeys in poultry farming and establishing a Common Service Center, respectively, showcasing how innovative practices and collaboration brought them financial independence and business success. The day concluded with an online session by SeSTA’s Executive Director, Pradyut Bhattacharjee, where leaders shared their experiences. On January 6, the leaders visited the Akshaya Patra Foundation in Jorhat to learn about their large-scale food operations. They met with key personnel, including Manash Sharma (Unit In-Charge), Mayurpakhi Kaushik (HR), and Madhurjya Bora (Quality In-Charge), who provided insights into food quality maintenance and distribution and saw first-hand the operations in the mega kitchen and serving of meals to school students. Our grassroots women leaders from the CII Foundation Empowering Champions of Change Program—supported by Apraava Energy and implemented with Seven Sisters Development Assistance (SeSTA) as the field partner— had an excellent opportunity for firsthand learning recently.  On January 4, the women leaders visited Namoni Majuli Block, Kortipara Gram Panchayat, Assam.  Guided by the dedicated Pragati Sakhis, our leaders explored various livelihood activities such as piggery, goat rearing, and the cultivation of garlic, mustard, and black gram.
