Ambassador Saija Nurminen recently enjoyed a highly productive visit to Cebu! During her visit, Ambassador Nurminen met with Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia and Vice Mayor Donaldo Hontiveros. She also engaged with local media and the business community and visited a Finnish company SAWO Inc., which has been operating in the Philippines for more than 20 years! A heartfelt thank you to our Honorary Consul Jose Franco B. Soberano, for his hospitality and ongoing support for Finnish-Filipino relations. 🇫🇮🤝🇵🇭

Working together towards a circular economy! ♻️ We are delighted to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Nordic Embassies and Pasig City to support the local government's transition to a circular economy. The signing of the MoU by Ambassador Saija Nurminen and other Nordic Ambassadors is a testament to our shared commitment to working towards a circular economy and supporting the Philippines in its green transition.
Closing the loop – one city at a time! ♻️🗑️ We are proud to announce the succesful signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Nordic Embassies and Pasig City to support the local government’s transition to a circular economy. Danish Ambassador Franz-Michael Mellbin, Finnish Ambassador Saija Nurminen, Norwegian Ambassador Christian Halaas Lyster, and Swedish Ambassador Harald Fries penned the agreement with Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto at the Danish Residence. The agreement is part of the joint initiative of the Nordic Embassies in the Philippines on circular economy, through the support of the The Nordic Council of Ministers and The Nordic Council. The collaborative project will focus on sharing Nordic knowledge and technology, driving social behavioral change, and mainstreaming gender and inclusivity in the city government’s circular economy programs. We commend Pasig City’s leadership in sustainability, and we look forward to working with the local government as a model city in the country for circular economy. The UN Member States adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in Paris on 10 December seventy-six years ago. The declaration is a powerful expression of the rights and freedoms that belong equally to everyone, as recognised in the UN Charter. Today, the message of the importance of fostering human dignity is as urgent as it was after World War II. In its foreign and security policy, Finland is committed to on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and to the international human rights system and treaties built on it. As a member of the UN Human Rights Council, Finland has consistently advocated for the Council's global mandate to promote and protect human rights. Human rights are the foundation of Finland's actions in any organisation, and as such they will also guide Finland's forthcoming chairpersonship of the Organisation of Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) #OurRightsOurFuture #HumanRightsDay #FIinHRC

Happy Independence Day, Finland! 🇫🇮 The happiest country in the world for seven years in a row—and how do we celebrate? Quietly, of course, maybe with a sauna or a dip in the cold water, some coffee, and watching the President's Independence Day Reception on television. That’s just the Finnish way. Hyvää itsenäisyyspäivää to all Finns — near and far! 🇫🇮 Photo credits: Terhi Tuovinen & Markus Kiili
