Social Housing and Support Services

About us

Caredig is a non-profit social landlord. We provide housing and support to people in Swansea, Neath, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire. Caredig (formerly Family Housing) was formed in 1975 by a group of local people who recognised there was a shortage of good quality, affordable housing available in the Swansea area for people in housing need. In its early years, the Association concentrated its activities in the Swansea City area and provided rented accommodation through the refurbishment of existing, dilapidated houses in Housing Action Areas and General Improvement Areas. It has since expanded to undertake a wide range of new build and regeneration projects throughout a much wider area of operation. The Association’s activities are funded through a mixture of public and private finance. As at March 2018, the Association had 2867 homes in management with the number of homes per Local Authority distributed as follows: • Neath & Port Talbot County Borough Council • City & County of Swansea • Carmarthenshire County Council • Pembrokeshire County Council • Ceredigion County Council The Association provides a wide range of housing solutions for single people, families, older people and people who need support to maintain their tenancy. The Association has formed partnerships with a wide range of statutory and voluntary organisations to provide specialist housing and support services for: - • Homeless people • People with disabilities • Women with support needs • Young vulnerable people • Young people leaving care • People with learning disabilities • People with unsettled backgrounds • People with mental ill-health • Older people with care & and support needs

  • Another great collaboration with our developers Castell Group and the local school close to one of our new developments. Towards the end of the summer we delivered new equipment to Trallwn Primary School for the outside play areas. The pupils have been busy since designing new artwork to brighten up our communal gardens in Trallwn Farm Close. This week the pupils came along to meet the residents and see the artwork displayed in the gardens. It’s important when building in the community that we are able to make these links with local groups and schools and give something back. #PartnershipWorking #CommunityBenefit

It's great to see phase two of our Samlet Road development progressing well. The timber frame installation is now underway, using pre-insulated closed frame panels sourced from LoCaL Homes. These panels provide an efficient and sustainable solution, moving us closer to completion. This phase includes a block of six apartments, with two apartments on each floor. We're on track to hand over this part of the development in July, providing much-needed housing for the community.🏘️ We're proud to be delivering this project in partnership with our client, Caredig. Stay tuned for more updates as we move closer to completion!
